Haluoleo International Airport (formerly Wolter Monginsidi International Airport) is an airport in South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia (IATA: KDI, ICAO: WAWW). Previously the name of this airport was taken from the name of Robert Wolter Monginsidi, an Indonesian national hero who was executed by the Dutch during the Indonesian National Revolution. Since February 13 2010, the name of this airport was changed to honor a Konawe knight, namely Haluoleo.
Haluoleo Airport has experienced several service improvements, especially with the Aerobridge or Garbarata facilities which make it easier for passengers to enter the airport departure and arrival terminal area and get to and from airplanes.
The airport apron can accommodate no less than 8 Narrow-Body wide-body aircraft in the class of Boeing 737-900ER or Airbus A320
With a budget approved by the Minister of Finance of IDR. 70 billion, Haluoleo Airport extended its runway from 2,500 meters to 2,800 meters in 2013-2014. This is related to the increasing frequency of flights and the use of the latest generation of Narrow-Body type aircraft used by several airlines, such as; Lion Air, Garuda Indonesia, and Sriwijaya Air.
