Master the hover. Measure it. Improve it.

Hovering is the first real skill every helicopter pilot has to learn, and the one you never stop working on. Hover Trainer turns it into a precise, repeatable exercise with a clear score and concrete advice, in X-Plane 12 and MSFS 2020/2024.

Get into your hover at any height, in ground effect or out of ground effect, and press START. From that moment, the spot, height and heading become your reference. Hover Trainer records every movement for 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds, then gives you your HOVER SCORE out of 100 with a full debrief:

FEATURES

  • One-click hover test: starts when you press START and ends by itself. Audio beeps mark the start and the end, so you can keep your eyes on the simulator.
  • Free hover height: train a low hover taxi height or a high out-of-ground-effect hover, it is your choice.
  • Precise measurement of position, height and heading, with average and maximum deviations.
  • Drift detection: tells a steady drift ("drifting to the left, 4 m over the test") from an unstable hover wandering around the spot, and gives the right correction for each.
  • Control smoothness analysis: detects over-controlling on the cyclic, pedals or collective.
  • Personal instructor debrief: one strength, one point to work on, and targeted tips.
  • Live top-down position trace during and after the test.
  • Three difficulty profiles: Beginner, Standard and Expert.
  • Test duration of your choice: 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds.
  • Personal history and personal best, so you can track your progress.
  • Autopilot or hover-hold use is detected and marked as unranked.
  • Every test saved as a CSV file for your own analysis.
  • Works with any helicopter, default or third-party.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, through SimConnect.
