Caracas officially Santiago de León de Caracas, is the capital of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the most populous city in the country. Since the 19th century, it has been considered the center of Venezuela's political and economic power. It is in the north-central coastal region of the country, approximately 12 km from the Caribbean coast and is located within a mountainous valley.

The city of Caracas, as the capital of Venezuela, is home to numerous service companies, banks, shopping centers, hotels, among others. Its activity is almost 100% service-oriented, carrying out some industries established in its metropolitan area, mainly in Los Cortijos, to the east of the city and in La Yaguara, to the west.
