St. Louis or Saint Louis is an independent city located in the US state of Missouri, bordering the state of Illinois. Located at the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Missouri River, it is one of the main cities in the American Midwest.
St. Louis' economy is primarily focused on services, manufacturing, commerce, freight, and tourism. The city is home to a large number of companies such as Express Scripts, Monsanto, Peabody Energy and Ameren. It is also home to two professional sports clubs: the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues (the St. Louis Rams were the city's football team from 1995 to 2015). The city is commonly identified by the Gateway Arch, a monumental arch named after the Westward Expansion.
In addition, it has one of the best zoos in the country, having been awarded several times. This zoo is private and maintained by donors. The zoo is located in a park called Forest Park, the second largest urban park in the United States.
