Description
Portsmouth is a port city in the county of Hampshire, England. It is located in the south of the country. Its urban agglomeration has 735 thousand inhabitants, including the neighboring city of Southampton. The city was for many years a base of the British Royal Navy.
Southampton is the largest port city on the UK's south coast. It is the closest town to the New Forest and lies between Portsmouth and Bournemouth. It was a locality belonging to Hampshire, and was upgraded to city status in the local government reorganization on April 1, 1997.
