Description
Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is a charming city full of history, with some interesting curiosities related to aviation.
One of these curiosities is that Vilnius International Airport is the largest airport in Lithuania and is located about 6 km from the city center. The airport offers direct flights to several European cities such as London, Warsaw and Berlin.
Another interesting curiosity is that aviation played an important role in the history of Lithuania. During World War II, Lithuania was occupied by Germany and the German Air Force established several air bases in the region. After the war Lithuania became an independent country and civil aviation developed rapidly.
Nowadays, aviation remains an important part of Vilnius' economy, with several international airlines operating flights to Vilnius International Airport. In addition, the city is home to an aviation museum, the Lithuanian Aviation Museum, which displays a fascinating collection of historic aircraft and aviation equipment.
Vilnius is a city with a rich history in military and civil aviation, and Vilnius International Airport plays an important role in Lithuania's economy.
