Following on from their award-winning L-1011 Tristar Professional, Hawk T1/A Advanced Trainer and PA-28 family of aircraft, this highly detailed simulation of the 146 regional jet has been developed by Just Flight's in-house team following comprehensive, hands-on research with a real-life aircraft, G-JEAO, which retired from service with British European Airways in 2000 and is now preserved at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum, and the CC.Mk2 and C.Mk3 aircraft of Royal Air Force, 32 (The Royal) Squadron.
 
Just Flight are excited to bring you the 146 ‘Whisper Jet’ – featuring the 100, 200 and 300 series of this classic British airliner. The design process of what was to become the 146-100 began under Hawker Siddeley in 1973 where the iconic high T-tail, short undercarriage, four engines and distinctive airbrake were chosen to produce a regional airliner with short-field performance and quiet operation. The 146-100 first flew in 1981, followed by the stretched 200 series in 1982 and 300 series in 1988.

The Royal Air Force purchased three 146-100s in 1986 and these were operated by The Queen's Flight, designated the CC.Mk2 ‘Statesman’ and equipped with VIP cabins. The aircraft were used to transport the British Royal family and senior members of the UK military and government.

The 146 was also popular with cargo airliners due to its excellent capacity and low engine noise, allowing for night flights into city-based airports. Two cargo variants were developed, the convertible passenger and freight variant (QC) and the freight-only Quiet Trader (QT). The Royal Air Force now operates two 200QC aircraft, designated the C.Mk3.

Eight variants of the 146 are included in this product – the 100 to 300 passenger variants, the 200QC and QT, 300 QT, RAF CC.Mk2 ‘Statesman’ and C.Mk3 – offering a wide variety of configurations, ranges and flight operations across the globe.

The exterior models are stunningly detailed, featuring 4096 textures for incredible clarity and the latest Physical Based Rendering (PBR) material technology to produce realistic metallic, plastic and glass surfaces (requires Prepar3D v4.4 and above). Realistic animations include trailing-edge flap mechanisms, spoilers and large tail-mounted airbrake, and all passenger and cargo doors.

Moving to the cockpit, the Captain and First Officer positions are modelled with hundreds of functional switches, knobs and controls. The aircraft features complex and detailed custom-coded systems, including hydraulic, electrical, fuel and pressurisation, and the cockpit is also fitted with a functional Thrust Management System (TMS) and comprehensive navigation equipment, including an FMC.

The aircraft are brought to life with immersive dynamic lighting and 3D sounds, with unique flight dynamics for each variant and custom effects from condensation and contrails to realistic exterior lighting.

The 146 was flown all around the world and over 30 airline liveries from the UK, USA, Europe and Australia are included, including many iconic airlines and paint schemes.

COCKPIT

  • A truly 3D cockpit environment right down to accurately modelled seat belts and screw heads - every instrument is constructed fully in 3D with smooth animations
  • Cockpit textures feature wear and tear based on reference photos taken in the real aircraft to produce an authentic environment

  • Panel state system which will automatically save the panel state whenever a flight is saved and reload the panel state whenever that flight is loaded

  • Many features have been added to help with usability such as the ability to hide the control yokes for a better view of the instruments and pre-set angled views for the overhead panel, centre pedestal and jump seat

Indicating and recording systems:

  • A vast array of annunciators, including accurately simulated Master Warning System (MWS) with amber and red cautions, audible warnings and ground testing for all systems
  • Flight Data Entry Panel (FDEP) for entering flight details (date, flight leg and number)


Landing gear:

  • Normal and emergency gear extension, including gear down-lock override
  • Gear configuration indication and warning systems

APU:

  • Realistic APU start and shutdown procedures, and bleed air and electrical power supply
  • RPM, TGT and fuel burn values based on real-world data


Doors and stairs:

  • Animations panel for controlling passenger and service doors, lower cargo doors and fuselage cargo door (QT/QC only)
  • Deployable airstairs, powered by AC hydraulic system


Powerplant:

  • N1, N2, TGT, oil pressures and temperatures will all differ subtly between engines
  • Accurately simulated Thrust Modulation System (TMS) with take-off (full or flexible), max continuous thrust, TGT and descent modes. Takes account of engine bleed air requirements e.g. for to air-conditioning and ice protection systems.
  • Realistic engine start procedures with external, APU or cross-start sources
  • Simulation of ground and flight idle baulks

This is purely a nostalgia purchase for me. If you were a fan of the TV show then you may understand. However as far as flying is concerned there are some problems. First you have to turn all realism sliders to easy, turn off “engine stress causes damage” and deactivate crash and collision detection settings. Then you can fly this as intended. This thing violates physics in some hilarious ways. The controls in helicopter mode are heavy. It’s often like flying a brick. Push the throttle past 50% and the blades become variable geometry wings. It can max out around Mach 2 and climb to fl650 which is laughably impossible, but you have to suspend reality and accept the fantasy in order to enjoy flying this. Overall it’s not that great of a flight model and leaves a lot to be desired in terms of controllability-
. Also for some reason you have to load other cabin views as completely new aircraft. This makes no sense to me. Every other add on I own load once and then just cycle through cameras to get other internal views like the other seats, stations or passenger areas. Not here though, nope. You must stop everything, go to select aircraft, then select the other internal cabin view aircraft options and fly from there only. Meaning if you choose “Cabin” view you cannot switch camera to the VC or vice versa. Of all my many many add ons only AFS does this. So if you can forgive the fantasy of this physics defying chopper and get a warm feeling for the Airwolf TV show, then sure….buy it. If you’re looking for anything resembling a realistic experience, then move along or you’ll be terribly disappointed.

This is the design that I first saw as a toy when I was a child. It was responsible for getting me interested in helicopters at an early age. A nice chopper that is pretty agile, and a little challenging to master flying and hovering. Not bad not great but definitely worth the price. Fun to fly around the many roof top helipads in Los Angeles Cities X add on scenery.

A real nice aircraft that didn’t really catch on as much as expected due to high operating costs. Thankfully we don’t worry about such things as simmers, and can enjoy this unique aircraft. It’s way faster than your average Cessna high wing. Cruises easily around 155kias under 10k feet. The model is indeed a bit behind Carenado standards, but not at all bad. The lighting is pretty good offering a nice ambience at night in the cabin. The flight model seems to be carefully designed making for enjoyable flights. I’ll take this over my 172 any day. I recommend picking up when on sale for sure. Only dinged it minus 1 star because it could’ve had more liveries

Well made, I'd say. It looks beautiful and it is acurrate(im from STR). The only thing i have to mention is the Tupolew Tu-154, parked at the Cargo Terminal. It's missing. but otherwise genious Scenery! I'd totally recommend

I bought it fom an other store a few months ago, and I really dont like ist. i am from Stuttgart. The Ground textures are really worse, and there ist no 3d grass. The textures of the buildings are 144p. The aircraft museum on the top of the terminal is non-existant. It doesn't work with sam or autogate. I'd maybe recommend this for 5$, but not 22! If you want a tip from me: Get Justsim! It is really good.

A little disappointed with this scenery. I know compare to others is cheap but it looks kind of cartoonist and it have static jetways not moving jetways, which in default sceneries are standard. The developer does not specified that the scenery does not include moving jetways in the description and that is a bigger letdown. Besides that it looks good.
