The DC-10 began its flying career in 1971 and soon proved that three engines were better than two – or four! With a passenger capacity of 380 and a range of over 2,500 miles it was a revelation. Now, by popular demand, the award-winning team at CLS has produced a fantastic version of this iconic aircraft for Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D.
DC-10 Collection HD 10-40 has been designed to be both very high in quality but still easy to operate, providing the highest quality of model design and textures, animations and flight model characteristics at an affordable price.
DC-10 Collection HD 10-40 features 19 High Definition (2048 x 2048) airline liveries and four white liveries, covering six passenger and freighter variants of the DC-10 from the -10 to the -40. A highly detailed virtual cockpit features fully modelled pilot and flight engineer positions and worn textures to produce an authentic environment.
Just Flight's F-Lite range of aircraft is designed to provide top quality aircraft that are extremely high in detail but less demanding to fly than today's most complex procedural simulators. These aircraft are a significant step up from the default Flight Simulator aircraft in terms of modelling and cockpit systems, but won't require weeks of study before you can get airborne.

Models
Eleven models are included, covering six variants of the DC-10:
DC-10-10 - the original passenger version of the DC-10, equipped with General Electric CF6 turbofan engines. A total of 122 were built between 1970 and 1981.
DC-10-10F - cargo version of the DC-10-10, modified to include a large fuselage freight door.
DC-10-30 - long range version of the DC-10-10. Larger fuel tanks increase the range and an additional main gear fitted to the centerline of the fuselage supports the increased aircraft weight. This was the most popular variant of the DC-10 with a total of 163 being built between 1972 and 1988. Models are included for the GE CF6-50C and GE CF6-50C2 engine configurations.
DC-10-30F - cargo version of the DC-10-30, modified to include a large fuselage freight door. Models are included for the GE CF6-50C and GE CF6-50C2 engine configurations.
DC-10-40 - long range version of the DC-10-10, similar in design to the DC-10-30 but fitted with Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines. Models are included for the JT9D-20 and JT9D-59A engine configurations, and centre and no centre-gear configurations.
DC-10-40F - cargo version of the DC-10-40, modified to include a large fuselage freight door. Models are included for the JT9D-20 and JT9D-59A engine configurations.

The JF/CLS DC-10 is a pretty good airliner and fun to fly. You do need to keep in mind that it is meant to be a "light" level airliner, meaning only the most basic aircraft systems are actually modeled. As it says in the manual that while gauges will move and indicator lights will light (everything is clickable), but it has no affect on the aircraft behavior so you can ignore most of the engineers panel if you want and just hop in and fly the plane. There's still a lot to learn up front though.
I like study level aircraft too but I still enjoy light airliners when I don't feel like going through all the motions of flying a airliner with super realistic systems. You do need to learn how to use the autopilot of course, but it's not as difficult as you think if you read the manual to help you. Besides, this is the only DC-10 that is modeled for any simulator, so if this particular plane interests you, it's the only option available.
The FMC is also a light version, you can ignore most of it as well if you want. The only things I use it for are double checking my flight plan is correct and pressing the "calc" button on the Takeoff/Approach page to calculate V-Speeds. It doesn't say this in the manual but since this is a light airliner, it's best to also use the default FSX/P3D GPS while flying it, mostly because the FMC doesn't tell you how far you are away from the next waypoint like a real one does, GPS makes navigation easier. The flight model feels fairly realistic enough for me that it is fun to hand fly.
Another thing I like is that even though it's a light airplane, you can still learn about the engineers panel and how it works as you go along since everything is clickable and interactive even though it's not really modeled.
I have it installed into P3Dv5 with only one very minor issue, the potable water system does work unless you do a cold and dark startup.
If you like light airliners and you like classic airliners, than you should give this airplane a try. The current price is more than fair for what you get.
Gutes bis sehr gutes wie preiswertes Add-On.
Nutze dieses Add-On (v.2.0) regelmässig mit P3Dv4.1:
Positiv:
- Sehr schönes Virtual Cockpit
- Relativ realistisches Flugverhalten
- Wenig Bugs, allg. von solider Qualität
- Hervorragende FPS mit P3Dv4!
- Bis jetzt keine CTDs mit dem Produkt
Negativ:
- Outdated bis hässliche 2D-gauges
- Kein Wetterradar
- Auto-Throttle reagiert zu träge
This is a very well developed aircraft, definitely forth the price. The model is very nice and has 24 photorealistic liveries included. The cockpit has high resolution textures and all switches/buttons done in 3D. Most pages in the computer are functional, all instruments perfectly readable. It flies very well on AP and performs realistically during hand flying. The aircraft is very well optimized and I haven't noticed any FPS impact. I like the soundpack as well. But most importantly - IT DOES HAVE WINGFLEX!!!
