Steep Atlantic cliffs, green valleys and villages climbing the mountainsides make Madeira a distinctive place to fly. From Funchal’s waterfront to the rugged São Lourenço peninsula, the island offers spectacular scenery for coastal exploration, mountain flying and memorable approaches into LPMA.

Madeira Redefined combines custom 2023 aerial imagery, detailed 2 m terrain and more than 5,000 regional residential buildings. Choose between enhanced imagery around Madeira Airport and its approach routes with standard coverage across the rest of the island, or a smaller standard-resolution package covering the whole island. Traditional houses, villas, apartments and townhouses add local character around Madeira Airport and its approach routes, across Gaula, Santa Cruz, Água de Pena, Machico and Caniçal. Detailed roofs, balconies, rooftop equipment and varied night lighting complete the neighbourhoods.

Funchal features custom recreations of Casino da Madeira and Pestana Casino Park, Savoy Palace, Royal Savoy, Reid’s Palace, The Cliff Bay and Estádio do Marítimo. Fortaleza do Pico and Forte de São Tiago join a detailed waterfront featuring Funchal Port, the cruise terminal, fisheries buildings, Museu CR7, Pestana CR7 and the Nini Design Centre. Landmarks capture the distinctive architecture and silhouettes of their real-world counterparts, with carefully simplified fine details to balance visual character and rendering efficiency.

Beyond the city, discover Ponta do Pargo and São Lourenço lighthouses with animated beacons, Santa Cruz’s beach docks and waterfront palms, and solar farms with more than 7,000 panel tables. Improved vegetation and building-height corrections further refine the island’s appearance. An optional Atelic compatibility patch blends the airport surroundings with the aerial imagery and improves vegetation coverage around the airport.
