Ready to test your mountain flying skills? Buckle up and head for Savoy (Savoie)! Situated at an altitude of 1,678 meters (5,505 ft) at the foot of the legendary Col du Galibier, the Valloire-Bonnenuit mountain landing strip (altisurface) is one of the most technical and spectacular airstrips in the French Alps.
Experience the Valloire airstrip and its unique runway: a strip of earth and grass nestled against the mountainside, featuring an impressive gradient. Once you’re on final approach, there is no room for error!
Embark on a bush trip between Savoy and the Dauphiné region, flying over the landscapes of the Maurienne Valley and Écrins National Park. Marvel at iconic nearby peaks such as the Aiguilles d'Arves, La Meije, and the Barre des Écrins, which towers at 13 458 ft (4,102 meters). Take flight to Courchevel, Alpe d'Huez, Val Thorens, Saint-Jean d'Avelanne or Val d'Isère!
Land your helicopter at the summit of the Col du Galibier, a legendary stage of the Tour de France.
Choose an aircraft with a narrow wingspan (like the Robin Cap10 or DR400) and start right inside the hangar! Open and close the doors by toggling your navigation lights from the cockpit. Alternatively, select an outdoor starting ramp for larger aircraft.
The new A/C radio frequency is written on a sign at the entrance to the airfield.
The buildings in the hamlet of Bonnenuit and the two inns on either side of the Col du Galibier are handcrafted, faithfully replicating the traditional mountain architecture found in the Maurienne and Dauphiné regions.
The microlight aircraft are also handcrafted. Animated hangar doors that can be opened and closed from the cockpit or automatically based on the time of day (open from 8 AM to 6 PM).
