TABURET - JUNEAU PHOTOREALISTIC
This is my first experience with buying payware scenery. Could not pass this one up, as I live in Juneau, and am really fond of flying in Southeast Alaska. I have had a mixed experience, probably due to my unfamiliarity with scenery. First let me say that the scenery package is "photoreal". I can literally do the "I can see my house from here" bit. A Winter texture would have been nice, but Summer is so much prettier here that it is not a huge issue. Perhaps my settings are messed up somehow, but with this scenery I get "waves" where in FSX default scenery there was water, but now is land. I had hoped that this scenery would fix a few other problems with the default Juneau as well. In default FSX the "Alaska Capitol is right next to the Airport, instead of 8 miles away in downtown Juneau. This was not changed with the release. Additionally, the FSX default roads are gone, but there is still traffic on them. I am getting cars and trucks running straight up the side of mountains. Finally, I know that this is not terrain mesh, but there are areas that are cliffs that should not be. I would have hoped that some of these fixtures would have been fixed in a package of this price. Overall, though I am very happy with how much more fun it makes VFR flight around my "home" airport.
