ANTS AIRPLANES - CAC WINJEEL MSFS

ANTS AIRPLANES - CAC WINJEEL MSFS

Terrific flight model and ground handling physics. Great radial engine simulation. Tons of options and four variants included (old, modern, FAC, and FAC modern). Great sounds. Textures are a bit dated looking though. But for the price, this is a no-brainer! Ants does great work.

NEMETH DESIGNS - AEROLITE 103 MSFS

Really nice ultralight that flies believably with terrific short landing and takeoff abilities. Great views and good sounds too. I wish there could be an RPM gauge, but adjusting throttle for a target cruise speed works ok. The manual is also very sparse, with very little info on how to fly the plane, just how to start and shut down. No Vy or approach speeds for example. But with trial and error it's fine (just like you might do in real life after building one of these).

SIMWORKS STUDIOS - VAN'S RV-10 MSFS

SIMWORKS STUDIOS - VAN'S RV-10 MSFS

Solid plane that flies very nicely. Great looks and sounds. Performance numbers seem pretty accurate to the real world information I can find. I have to dock it a star because of the messy way it seems to integrate with avionics mods. Sky4sim might interfere with the PMS50 GTN650 for example, which can also interfere with the main PFD screen - although it's hard to tell. Either way, myself and others on the forums and discord had issues with screens never turning on, and I had to juggle the various community folders before I could get it working. With the addon GTN650, this plane requires around 5 community folder packages to function right. It's ungainly. But once it was working right, I really enjoy this plane.

BRSIMDESIGNS - ERCOUPE 415C MSFS

An ok plane. Feels very light, which it surely is. The latest update brought aileron and rudder interconnect, so the rudder controls do not work on this plane, like real life. Steering with the yoke on the ground is fun. But the sim model does NOT like crosswind landings, and this is not so big a problem according to real life accounts. For this reason alone it doesn't feel quite plausible to me. But other than that it is ok to fly. Very sedate and slow.

JUSTFLIGHT - BLACK SQUARE VELOCITY XL MSFS

JUSTFLIGHT - BLACK SQUARE VELOCITY XL MSFS

Following the latest update this airplane went from 4 to 5 stars for me. The turboprop and engine simulation is now top tier, and the few features that didn't work on release like the environmental controls now work. Beautiful and unique airplane with plenty of depth.

BURGESS SIMCRAFT - SPARTAN 7W EXECUTIVE MSFS

BURGESS SIMCRAFT - SPARTAN 7W EXECUTIVE MSFS

Beautiful looks and sounds. Flies very nicely. Comes with a very nice manual with tips from real pilots. The features are appropriate for the price level (don't expect anything crazy but the doors and windows open, and circuit breakers work). As of release, the ground handling is very tricky and the wheels have a tendency to skid. The EGT gauge also does not work when leaning the mixture, but you can use the RPM gauge as a substitute as pilots of the era would have done. All in all I like the product and the developer has already been very responsive when I reported these issues. I recommend this one.

WING42 - BOEING 247D MSFS

WING42 - BOEING 247D MSFS

Incredible plane with insane level of detail and packed with features. Wonderful flight model and systems. Flying the "beam" is an amazing vintage experience. Yes, the developer has disappeared and there was never any update since release. But I took the plane up just recently (April 2023) and it performed wonderfully. The only thing in my mind that needs fixing is the oil temperature not being accurate. But you can manage the engines via the oil pressure gauge instead and do just fine. There's also a mod to fix it on flightsim.to. Don't sleep on this plane, it's excellent.

FLIGHT REPLICAS - L-4 GRASSHOPPER MSFS

FLIGHT REPLICAS - L-4 GRASSHOPPER MSFS

The L-4 from Flight Replicas has some negatives, but mostly positives. The exterior looks great. The flight model and behavior in general is excellent and very convincing and unique. The interior textures are just ok, not the greatest looking. And some of the clickspots including the carb heat are hard to click correctly until you figure out exactly where it is. Sound is the weakest point, as it does not use the proper sounds for the L-4 engine. I had to mod it to the Cessna 152 soundset. And the sounds don't change at all when the door/window opens, which is a major omission for me. Still I am very positive on the L-4. It's great to fly, which is what really matters with such a simple plane like this.

AEROPLANE HEAVEN - GLOBE SWIFT GC-1A MSFS

AEROPLANE HEAVEN - GLOBE SWIFT GC-1A MSFS

Fun little airplane and pretty nicely modeled. Looks beautiful inside and out. Sounds are nice and change with the windows up or down. Avionics are simple, just a single VOR and CDI. Flight model feels great including takeoff and landing with the taildragger behavior. There's not much depth in terms of save states, failures, wear, engine damage, etc if you're looking for that. But it behaves well, looks and sounds good, and is fun to fly. Great rendition of this classic airplane.
