Reasonable upgrade to my existing FTX Global scenery. airport surroundings including the town is modeled more accurately than either FTX or AS Iceland X alone. Especially important is that the terrain elevation is better than those two, making takeoff from Runway 08 less of a problem. Downside is that this scenery conflicts with AS iceland X. Enabling both will cause the runway surface to be messed up and unusable. Workaround is to deselect AS in the scenery library. Another limitation is that this scenery covers only 'one valley' distance from the airport. For some reason, FTX and AS only have snow land class for the surrounding area irrespective of the season. With summer Isafjordur loaded, it is easy to see the abrupt jump from all-green local texture to the all-white distant ones. At higher altitude this is especially painfully obvious.

The scenery, especially the airport itself is reasonably well-made. Other reviewers have mentioned the lack of critical landmarks in this area, and I can't agree more with them. It'll be four stars if not for this. Initially I installed LOD10 mesh as instructed and encountered LOD update radius nightmare where everything outside that radius is depicted in horrible FSX default mesh, thus creating discontinuity in mesh. I sent THAI Creation an email but never received any reply. This unfortunately takes another star off. I figured it out myself after checking out a few other mesh made by Sandmann on AVSIM. New buyers are strongly advised to install not only the LOD10 mesh but also the LOD9 base mesh made by the same auther, this way the base mesh and buffer mesh eliminate the discontinuity.
