On the territory of the future airport in 1952, a NATO air base was built, which housed the 50th wing of the US air force.Most of Hahn air base was returned to German civil authorities on 30 September 1993, although USAFE retained a small portion as a radio communications facility until its final return to German authorities in 2012. It is still frequently used for military charters operated by, among others, Atlas Air , Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines.

Not exactly cheap for the size of the airport (for P3d level yes, for MSFS level, not too much). But still worth its price, if you like the airport. PBR effects look awsome, the scenery runs very smooth and flawless. Not everywhere extremely sharp textures, and no terminal interior (which wouldn't have been interesting at all at HHN, btw). But as long as that serves smoothness - which it definetly does - it was a good decision. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of such gimmicks. So, it was done pretty well, IMO.
