    Pittsburgh Bridges

MSFS2020 is a huge leap forward for flight simulator scenery but, the bridges are still awful, particularly over large rivers and where bridges are a dominant feature of a city. This package fixes that for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh in the south western corner of Pennsylvania, USA, is known as the “City of Bridges”, the “Steel City”, and “The Gateway to the West”. It is a very scenic city at the confluence of the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River which forms the Ohio River running west to the Mississippi.

This package includes 21 bridges on the 3 rivers around the point of confluence which is beside the Pittsburgh city center, from McKees Rocks on the Ohio, to the Hot Metal Bridge at South Oakland on the Monongahela, to the 40th Street Bridge at Lawrenceville on the Allegheny. All the default bridges have been replaced with individually and accurately modeled bridges with night lighting to realistically represent the real world. Many of these are iconic steel bridges with unique designs and some are on the National Historic Register.

38 bridge enhancements transforms flying around Pittsburgh into a much more visually realistic treat... you want to fly low and take in all the scenery.

I've been flying the Mississippi and its tributaries, after buying all the appropriate bridge packages. Today, following the Ohio, I finally got to Pittsburgh, and I was stunned to see so many delightful bridges, they just kept appearing on the rivers through Pittsburgh. And I thought the New York City bridge pack was amazing with 29 bridges! You really get your money's worth with version 2 of this great package and its 38 beautifully crafted bridges. Highly recommended.

First off, I have to say I'm impressed by the accuracy and attention to detail given to the bridges that were modeled. Being from Pittsburgh it's crazy how realistic the bridges actually look. Doing any VFR around Pittsburgh (or doing ILS approaches for runway 32 into KPIT) are much more fun with the bridges! They are definitely of high quality and worthy of being payware. My only reason for it not getting 4 stars is the price. There really isn't a lot of bridges for the price you are paying. For this price, I wish a couple of more bridges were modeled, especially around the Ohio river where you will typically have ILS approaches for 28L and 28R. I would have loved to see a better modeled I-79 bridge (Neville Island Bridge), and maybe even the Sewickley bridge. Those noticeable when approaching Pittsburgh International. On the Mon river it would have been nice to see them extend down towards the Rankin Bridge as to help with more realism when leaving KAGC (Allegheny County). But overall I love the bridges made, and am definitely looking at some of the other cities that have been done! These are WAY better then the crap we currently see in MSFS.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh (the Burgh) I am not totally happy. What bridges that were done, are very good. However, they are ONLY river bridges and ONLY in the immediate city area. There are 9 on the Mon (Monongahela) but stop at the railroad bridge before the Homestead Grays bridge. Up the Allegheny from the point there are 10 bridges but they stop at the 40th St (Washington Crossing) bridge excluding the Rt 8 / 62 St (Sen Fleming) bridge and north. Down the Ohio was my biggest disappointment for the river bridges. Included from the point are the West End, Brunot Island railroad bridges and the McKees Rocks bridge. Neville Island and south, forget it. Off river bridges are not included. That includes the Jacks Run (Rt 65) bridge that parallels the Ohio River a half mile south of the McKees Rocks bridge. Panther Hollow (Oakland District) has two major bridges near Univ of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Library & Museum, Carnegie Mellon Univ., Phipps Conservatory, and Schenley Park, known to almost everyone from the Burgh, Schenley Drive (near the old Forbes Field) and Panther Hollow Rd in Schenley Park. Neither are included. Additional work needs to be done on cleaning up flying cars higher than the bridge surface and cars crossing the rivers at water level under the presented bridges. Having done scenery myself, I understand that this is not easy, but can and should be done. Personally this product should be renamed 'City of Pittsburgh RIVER Bridges' as there are far too many exclusions for the current title. I have mentioned only a few.

Excellent work as always. These bridges are not just thrown together as you can tell from the first glance at one. Night time they come alive! I own all of RKBridgers bridge packages and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to enhance their sim experience.

Excellent work. The bridges are very well crafted and very aesthetically appealing. I wished I had mods for all river towns.
