For some (regarding aircraft carrier ops) reason this plane bounces like a rubber ball all over the carrier deck no matter how good your landing is. It’s fine when landing on the ground, but try the same thing on an aircraft carrier and this F8 ends up all over the place and sometimes in the water. So forget about doing a naval operations with this.
Also the speed is wrong. Out of the box these barely get to Mach 1.3. I had to adjust the aircraft .cfg thrust scaler up to 1.75 in order to make this super sonic aircraft get close to its top speed around Mach 1.7 in level flight at fl300.
Also the speed gauge Mach indicated is broken. It will never indicate a Mach speed about .85 so I had to use an aeronautical speed calculator to figure what the actual Mach is. That stinks.
That’s ll the bad.
The good is pretty good in that the airplane overall appearance is excellent. The radar works, the scope works, you can fire (without FX) your missiles or drop bombs.
It handles like I would expect for an F8. I like flying it quite a bit.
The engine audio is understated so you’ll have to crank up your volume. The night lighting is well done.
In summary the bad:
Top speed too low and requires end user to fix.
Mach meter gauge is broken.
Cannot perform any carrier ops.
The good:
Excellent textures and flight modeling.
Nice night lighting.
Fun to fly.
It’s the ONLY Crusader you can buy so whether or not it’s work the price is beside the point. I’m a collector so I begrudgingly bought it and am OK with it.
