Discover Santarém

Located at the meeting point of the Tapajós and Amazon Rivers, Santarém is one of the most distinctive cities in the Brazilian Amazon. The region is surrounded by dense tropical vegetation, winding waterways and vast stretches of undeveloped landscape, making it a particularly interesting destination to explore from the air.

Santarém–Maestro Wilson Fonseca Airport (SBSN) serves as an important gateway to the region, connecting Santarém with destinations across Brazil and providing a unique setting for flight simulation.

This rendition brings Santarém to X-Plane 12 with detailed airport buildings and objects, custom terrain, high-resolution ground imagery and carefully placed tropical vegetation. From the busy airport environment to the surrounding Amazonian landscape, every part of the scenery has been developed to capture the character of this distinctive Brazilian destination.

Key Features

Custom Terrain Mesh: Smooth runway, accurate elevation, and realistic terrain transitions, tailored specifically to the airfield and its immediate surroundings.
High-Fidelity 3D Buildings & Objects: Highly detailed airport buildings and objects created by Fernando Soares and carefully adapted for X-Plane 12 by Skybound Studios.
High-Resolution Orthoimagery: Crisp, colour-matched ground coverage designed to blend Santarém naturally into the surrounding Amazonian landscape.
Hand-Placed Local Vegetation: Thousands of native 3D trees and regional foliage hand-placed throughout the airport area to recreate the dense, vibrant tropical environment of Santarém.
PBR Texturing & Dynamic Weathering: Physically based materials across buildings, hangars and aprons, with realistic surface detail, dirt and wear, alongside rain reflections tuned for X-Plane 12's lighting and weather systems.
Custom Night Lighting: Carefully balanced apron and runway lighting, optimised for realistic night operations without excessive light bleed or unnatural glare
