SceneryTech's North America Landclass for FSX perfectly demonstrates how SceneryTech hopes to transform the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator, employing innovative development techniques not used anywhere else.

SceneryTech's products fix nearly every issue found in the default landclass, from pervasive desertification of the landscape to missing towns and cities. Most importantly, it will ramp up the realism and make the FS world a more interesting place to fly.

SceneryTech Technology

SceneryTech's landclass employs a number of technical advancements that sets it apart from the default landclass, as well as the competition's:

High-definition data sources

Users of SceneryTech landclass may notice that it contains more terrain variation than the default landclass. This is due in part to the more specific land classification scheme that is used during the development stage. Although the data must eventually be downsampled to conform with the less-detailed land classification scheme used by the Flight Simulator scenery engine, the fact that it is processed from a higher definition data scheme gives us more control over the final representation.

Data synthesis

To make sure the resulting landclass product is as accurate as possible, several complementary data sources are used to weed out any imperfections. Besides the basic land classification maps, we also use climatology maps, political maps, elevation maps, and population maps in conjunction to generate the final product.

Error correction methodology

Given the large size of the world, ensuring that there are no errors can be a daunting task. Rather than simply attempting to fix each individual error as they are found, the entire data processing routine is reviewed and changed as necessary to ensure that the error will not be present in the final product. Despite being largely automated, the scenery is also meticulously crosschecked with real-world photographs and satellite imagery to validate that it remains true-to-life, which is, after all, the primary objective of any of our scenery products.

A key goal of the SceneryTech Landclass is to reduce the "desertification effect" that is prevalent in the default landclass. This occurs in large part from imprecisions in the source data used to process many landclass products. Although we are presented with the same limitations in our source data, we employ special techniques to ensure that the final product uses snow where one should find snow, and desert where one should find desert.

Another objective of our landclass is to improve upon the cities and towns. You will notice more realistic urban extents, as well as smoother transitions between suburban areas and urban centers. Furthermore, hundreds of smaller towns and cities that don't appear in the default landclass will spring into existence.

Improved Slope Landclass

As part of the effort to reduce the desertification effect, the entire slope texturing scheme has been revamped to minimize the use of desert textures on slopes. This is achieved through the Improved Slope Landclass (ISL), a unique component not found in any other landclass product. The ISL also activates smoother texture transitions between flat surfaces and steep slopes.

SWISSMILSIM - DE HAVILLAND VAMPIRE DH-100 MSFS

One piece of information concerning the commentary on the texts in the cockpit of the Vampire: Switzerland being a quadrilingual country, the choice of inscriptions in the cockpit of military aircraft from the 1940-1990 period was delicate. The German-speaking majority did not want to impose itself too much! And as it was the time of the Second World War, making a distinction with the German neighbour was probably important. As a result, all military aircraft had French cockpit markings (with some exceptions on later instruments). The SwissMilSim Vampire being a faithful reproduction of the aircraft of the time, the texts are in French. As for completing with the original English versions with faithful instrumentation-
s, SwissMilSim has done so in FSX and P3D versions with little sales success!

Amazing Scenery. Worth the price. I've been following this company for a while and they put out nothing but top notch scenery.

This is a great little historic aircraft and a nice model. Well worn interior, decent exterior, good set of features and excellent sound that is all too often lacking in far more expensive payware. It's old, cranky and not so fast, but has good pilot viz and fun to fly. Hopefully, folks will come out with some other liveries and more will give the Vampire a chance because it's worth it.

Comment to my previuous review OF course, as usual, the screenshots DO NOT capture the real work done

Those who criticise the looks have no idea what they are talking about while i'm not a pilot i have sat in a real vampire and the cockpit was just how it was in the real world, i also see no problems with the texturing and quality on the exterior model either, and while i have seen a few planes textured a little better they in no way deserve your crummy 1 star. The external textures are part of the livery and could be improved by other textures if they get made anyway.. That all being said i do have some issues, the documentation while good can be a little confusing in its wording i am guessing this maybe a language translation issue i would also for this price hoped it would come with a few different versions and some historical liveries like raf. After shutting down ambient sounds vanish which is a little weird and there is no sound difference between canopy open and closed The labels in the cockpit are German? while i hate to be arrogant most simmers speak English and English is the international language of aviation so would have been nice to have them in English .apart from those which are minor the plane is great to fly and the sound of the Goblin Engine is amazing. i found it pretty tricky to land getting the speed right i also found it very easy to spin and i haven't been able to recover from it maybe its me or maybe its unrecoverable i have no idea if the real one was so easy to spin also that engine blows up a lot so need to keep the throttle down out of the red all in all a good product and i hope a few fixes are made to make it even better

Despite the lack of inside modeling, its a very good work And the terminal is very precisely designed. The airport itself includes many buildings. As usual with Tropical Sim, the screenshots desserve the product

Those who criticise the appearance of the cockpit have certainly never sat in it. I have flown this plane, I can assure you that it is a very faithful historical reconstruction not only in appearance but also in performance, and not an avatar!

Textures are abysmal. Seems all the ground textures were done with google images. Runway textures is horrid and crooked. I wish more time was put into this project as this is my home airport. There's much to be desired. It seems extremely rush. Not worth the money.

I really love this Plane. This and Br Sim Design's H35 Vtail are just fantastic. Some of the best engine vibration effects and prop effect i have seen. Flight model is great and the plane is such a joy to fly. I have both and they are a part of my regular rotation. This one is unique in its design. Definately worth it! You won't regret it.

Rather well done. I was skeptical at first but it flies nice, it's modeled nice, textures are good and on top of that it has a cool and unique custom efb smart phone with apps (weather, gps, notepad)Even comes with a well modeled fuel truck and transport car for those who like extra immersion. All in all you can tell the dev put passion into this XA42.
