Frosinone Airport (ICAO: LIRH) is an Italian military airport located 5 km from the city of Frosinone, named in memory of pilot Captain Girolamo Moscardini. It is home to the 72nd Wing, a training unit of the Italian Air Force. The 72nd Wing includes the 208th Squadron (NH-500E), the GIP (Ground Training Group), the 472nd STO Group, the 572nd SLO Group, the GEA (Aircraft Efficiency Group), and the Force Protection Company. The 208th Squadron provides initial training for helicopter pilots of the Armed Forces and other State bodies and, limited to Air Force pilots, issues helicopter ratings. In Frosinone, specialists are also trained, and, already qualified to operate helicopters, they complete practical training courses. The Wing is also capable of conducting SAR operations and Combat SAR training.
