Airport Code
Suvarnabhumi Airport inherited its IATA airport code BKK from Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport. (ICAO: VTBS, IATA: BKK) In the interim period while both airports were operating (from September 15th to September 28th) Suvarnabhumi used the code NBK. Don Mueang International Airport’s new code is DMK.
Location
The airport is located in Racha Thewa in the Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province, 30 kilometers east of Bangkok.
Hours of operation
24
Architects
The airport was designed by Murphy/Jahn Architects.
Facilities (Phase I)
130 passport control checkpoints for arrivals, 72 for departures.
26 customs control checkpoints for arrivals, 8 for departures.
22 baggage conveyor belts.
360 check-in counters. There are 100 additional counters for passengers without luggage.
107 moving walkways.
102 elevators.
83 escalators.
Capacity (Phase I)
The airport has 2 parallel runways (60 m. wide, 4,000 m., and 3700 m. long) and 2 parallel taxiways to accommodate simultaneous departures and arrivals. It has a total of 120 parking bays (51 with contact gates and 69 remote gates) and 5 of these are capable of accommodating the Airbus A380 aircraft. With a capacity of handling 76 flight operations per hour, both international and domestic flights will share the airport terminal but will be assigned to different parts of the concourse. In the initial phase of construction, it will be capable of handling 45 million passengers and 3 million tons of cargo per year. Between the airport hotel and the terminal building are the two 5-storey car park buildings with a combined capacity of 5,000 cars.
I would like to edit my 2 star review from below to 5 stars now, as the problem with the runway identifier problem has resolved now. Probably due to SU2. I can now pick procedures.
The Airport itself is great. The reason why I downgraded my review is that you cant select any STARS on this airport with aircrafts using the internal navdata (even updated by navigraph) such as the FBWA380, IniA350. The reason is actually an ASOBO problem, but it should be in the developers interest to report this problem to ASOBO as well or find a fix for their own scenery. In short: The MSFS stock scenery has outdated runway identifiers. In MSFS2020 this was actually fixed by installing a 3rd party airport, which has everything correct and this matches then with the updated navigraph navdata. In MSFS2024 the problem arises because of the loading order of packages. In MSFS2024 Siamflight VTBS scenery is loaded first and THEN the stock scenery (in MSFS2020 3rd party was loaded last). The now wrong runway identifiers (being loaded last) overwrite the ones from Siamflight and now contradict to the updated navdata. The result is you cant access procedures in the FMS/MCDU. Sidenote: Fenix does not have that problem as it uses an independent out of the MSFS2024 environment navdata setup.
I bought this just last week and is indeed a truly detailed add-on and nicely done. However, it needs a lot of optimizations or options to reduce some details within the add-on. I have a 7800x3d, 64gb of RAM and RTX 4090 and even with frame generation on, the fps was not going above 40-45. Without frame generation, fps drops to 20-25. I request and recommend to do some optimizations and I am happy to support with the testing if needed, as I have already purchased it. The low FPS completely takes away the immersion.
Fantastic rendition of my home airport, simply the best VTBS available payware in the market.
Admittedly FPS does take a bit of a hit but thankfully it is at least a small but constant drop of a few frames rather than stuttering, which is preferable when flying.
Nonetheless, I feel this addon is worth every penny given the level of detail. It's almost faultless, but possible future updates to fix some of the flickering interiors, 3D modelled water canals besides the runways/taxiways and possibly addition of static aircraft (e.g., the retired Thai Airways 747/772/A380 fleet parked by the East Apron hangar) would bring this to perfection.
ขอบคุณครับ
I been in Bangkok 6 mouth a go. the departure check-in is exactly perfect. I never see check-in airport scenery with so much detail. the interior is so well done. they add also the expansion concourse. you bring me back good memory about this airport.
you set a new standard in airport scenery
