Albert Whitted Airport (ICAO: KSPG) is a public airport in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida, USA.
St. Petersburg is recognized as the birthplace of scheduled commercial airline flight. On January 1914,a Benoist XIV flying boat from the company St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line piloted by Tony Jannus, took off from the central yacht basin of the downtown waterfront.
The airport is named for Lieutenant James Albert Whitted, USNR, a St. Petersburg native. He was one of the U.S. Navy's first 250 Naval Aviators, commissioned at age 24 just as the United States entered World War I in 1917. Whitted would take people up in the "Bluebird", a plane he designed and built. He never charged for the flights. His aerial maneuvers always left spectators in awe.
Albert Whitted Airport covers 110 acres (45 ha) at an elevation of 7 feet (2 m). It has two asphalt runways: 7/25 is 3,677 by 75 feet (1,121 x 23 m) and 18/36 is 2,864 by 150 feet (873 x 46 m). It is also home to businesses such as St. Pete Air, Tampa Bay Aviation, Sheltair Aviation Services, Tampa Bay Air Charter, Biplane Tours.
Have a lunch at The Hangar Restaurant, or a break in the Flight Lounge, and don't miss the murals painted by talented artists.

Not sure what John is saying here. This scenery looks good and has great performance. Especially so in VR which is the real test on framerates if one doesn't have the right hardware (video card, etc). Basically this scenery get's the thumbs up as far as I'm seeing both in 2D and VR.
Pros:
The custom buildings look great
General layout, taxiways look great
Custom runway textures
Cons:
Needed more polish before releasing...
Runway lights on 18/36 are not aligned
No terraforming around the edge of the airport on the bay, still looks flat
Runway hold short markers are missing?!
No fencing on south side
But by far, the largest issue - the over use of Asobo aircraft models around the airport leading to poor FPS. It's just simply not feasible to use so many highly detailed models for static aircraft. It severely impacts the performance compared to other larger scale airports I use. Please greatly reduce the number of Asobo aircraft used, provide an option to show/hide these as other developers do, or use a library of lower quality static models to improve the performance. I am very disappointed with the performance I am experiencing with this airport.
