The improvement of the DH-100 aircraft gave birth to the DH-112 Mk. 1 Venom, first flight on September 2, 1948. The Swiss Air Force became interested in this aircraft and tests were held in England and Switzerland in 1949 and 1950. In April 1951, the Federal Council's message concerning the authorized construction of 150 DH-112 Mk. 1 Venom aircraft was approved by the Federal Parliament with a commitment credit of 175 million francs. The license agreement included the Ghost-48 radial engine. It was produced by Gebrüder Sulzer AG and was installed in the aircraft from the 30th production aircraft. The Venom was the first Swiss Air Force fighter to be equipped with an ejection seat from the outset.

In February 1954, the Parliament approved the construction of another 100 DH-112 Mk. 4 Venom aircraft under license. 226 DH-112 Mk. 1 and Mk. 4 aircraft were used by troops as ground combat aircraft from 1954 to 1983. 24 DH-112 Mk. 1R aircraft were used as reconnaissance aircraft by 10 Squadron from 1954 to 1968. This was the largest fleet that served Switzerland. The new nose cone, introduced in the 1970s, houses a new UHF radio, a bomb aiming computer and a friend and foe device (IFF). The Venom was retired in 1983.

Our modeling is based on the latest MK4 Swiss version with instruments in metric values and texts in French.

Very detailed manuals in English, French and German are available in the “document” repertoire or on the Internet site https://swissmilsim.ch. A thorough study is recommended before flying this demanding aircraft.

Flown in VR under MSFS 2024 This mod has fantastic flight modeling, system depth and sound but it really falls down in the looks department. The physical model is OK but fairly simple with pictures standing in for complex parts like tubes and rams inside opening parts (flaps, gear doors, etc) plus external textures are flat and low res. The worst part of it all is the cockpit with the majority of it being just flat textures which looks terrible especially in VR. The English cockpit mod on "flightsim dot to" helps somewhat as, while it's still all flat textures, they do seem crisper and more high res than the stock ones. They got the core parts so very right and I still love flying this but I can't recommend it for anybody who isn't a hardcore fan of this type of aircraft.

I had the 100back in FSX so I kind of expected a lot of the 112 in FS20. While I think the modeling and flight characteristics are well done, the systems are a little bit of a let down. I get that it’s a much improved version of the 100 but it still should not be so unbreakable so to speak as it seems to be now. I’ve tried to overheat the engine and can’t. Plus I miss the power supply vehicle they had in FSX days. Just seems a little bit less refined than previous family versions. However it’s not bad at all. I do enjoy flying it but I miss having the realism of the engine in the back of my mind while flying.i don’t know maybe it does break and I just haven’t tried hard enough?  Need more liveries too.

Excellent work by Swissmilsim, once again. The flight characteristics are very well implemented and the sound adds a lot to the immerson. The winglex is awesome. The quality of the textures has also greatly improved, which is mostly noticeable in the cockpit. However, the instruments are difficult to read because of the seating position, which is much too far back. If the position is moved forward, the aiming device blocks the view of the instruments. In the real Venom, the cockpit space is extremely constricted. This could have been better implemented. But overall, very good work!

Overall very immersive. Sounds are very good. Old style texturing is charming but not to all tastes especially with the high polished standarts of recent msfs addons. Engine simulation is top, also performance figures are spot on. However the actual feeling of flight is too stiff IMHO. Breaking and steering on ground needs finetuning. I hope some weapons will be supported some day, like HPGs Helo does.

Most swicthes are inactive. plane difficult to steer on ground with the brakes. Needs a lot of improvements to be worth the price.

Very good model of the outstanding jet mfg. by De Haviland. All instruments and switches are very accurate and the jet is a fun to fly. Recommend warmly.
