FSX AsterMesh Alaska 30 m - Version 1

Astermesh is a new Terrain Mesh scenery for the Flight simulator - extracted from the Asterdem Version 1. We have reworked - compiled this new set of elevation data models for the flight simulator with the goal to achieve the best results as possible after some editing on some of the original dem was applyed as Aster dem is a brand new product - This is the beginning of a new era for the flight simulator which will surely change the shape of its terrains in the future.

This first package of AsterMesh covers Alaska - users of this mesh will it enjoy a much deeper flight simulation experience comparing to srtm based meshes !

"ASTER GDEM is a product of METI and NASA."

The Astermesh's accuracy estimates were 20 meters at 95% confidence
for vertical data, and 30 meters at 95% confidence for horizontal data."

NASA and Japan released a new digital topographic map of Earth that covers more of our planet than ever before. The map was produced with detailed measurements from NASA’s Terra spacecraft.

The new global digital elevation model of Earth was created from nearly 1.3 million individual stereo-pair images collected by the Japanese Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer, or Aster, instrument aboard Terra. NASA and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, known as METI, developed the data set.

“This is the most complete, consistent global digital elevation data yet made available to the world,” said Woody Turner, Aster program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “This unique global set of data will serve users and researchers from a wide array of disciplines that need elevation and terrain information.”

According to Mike Abrams, Aster science team leader at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., the new topographic information will be of value throughout the Earth sciences and has many practical applications. “Aster’s accurate topographic data will be used for engineering, energy exploration, conserving natural resources, environmental management, public works design, firefighting, recreation, geology and city planning, to name just a few areas,” Abrams said.

Previously, the most complete topographic set of data publicly available was from NASA’s Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. That mission mapped 80 percent of Earth’s landmass, between 60 degrees north latitude and 57 degrees south. The new Aster data expand coverage to 99 percent, from 83 degrees north latitude and 83 degrees south. Each elevation measurement point in the new data is 30 meters (98 feet) apart.

“The Aster data fill in many of the voids in the shuttle mission’s data, such as in very steep terrains and in some deserts,” said Michael Kobrick, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission project scientist at JPL. “NASA is working to combine the Aster data with that of the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission and other sources to produce an even better global topographic map.”

NASA and METI are jointly contributing the Aster topographic data to the Group on Earth Observations, an international partnership headquartered at the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, for use in its Global Earth Observation System of Systems. This “system of systems” is a collaborative, international effort to share and integrate Earth observation data from many different instruments and systems to help monitor and forecast global environmental changes.

Aster is one of five Earth-observing instruments launched on Terra in December 1999. Aster acquires images from the visible to the thermal infrared wavelength region, with spatial resolutions ranging from about 15 to 90 meters (50 to 300 feet). A joint science team from the U.S. and Japan validates and calibrates the instrument and data products.

ANTS AIRPLANES - DRIFTER ULTRALIGHT MSFS
Paul
This was a really nice surprise. The detail of the 3D model is excellent, as is the texturing. The flight model seems good. There are a number of nice features that I wouldn't expect at this price point such as the tablet, the tiltable GPS mount and iCom radio. There is also a float version. Don-
't take my word for it though...check out the demo/freeware version from the developer's website.

Very good aircraft, worth all the money. Very recommended!

very nice scenery, textures are nice and FPS friendly!

it works really well, the sounds are very good, the immersion of the pitch is felt and several angles of view are available, it is a pleasure to drive it

Great plane - my favorite. Please add back in Auto-Trim. At least make it an option - not sure who said remove it, but that's one of the features.... -
Best regards, Michael

it flies stiff. And flap switch does not work in cockpit. I think max weight is a little light too. I could be wrong with the weight though. I am researching it more.
DIGITAL DESIGN - EDDP LEIPZIG-HALLE FSX P3D2-4

Another beautifully done scenery. I also enjoy Digital Design's LOWS for FSX. Detail is excellent. U-
nfortunately on my first trip into EDDP IFR I was put on vectors for 'an ILS approach' circling for the runway (26L) specified in the initial approach clearance, not a specific ILS approach to a specific runway. The AED/AFCAD includes the ILS frequencies for all 08/26 approaches so I'm not sure why inbounds are not vectored for a specific ILS. This is a big issue and the first time I have seen this with any add-on scenery of which I have several. Additionally the AED/AFCAD shows an ILS approach to a runway '10/28'. There is no runway 10/28 at EDDP. Too bad as, like I said, the scenery is extremely well done.
DOUBLE T - EL DORADO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MSFS
JUAN PABLO
The passenger terminal looks amazing but it does need more work on other areas. There also are trees between runway 13R and the taxiway that needs to be removed.
FSXCENERY - KISP LONG ISLAND-MC ARTHUR AIRPORT MSFS

Not too bad but jetways bump into planes, no gate lines virtually no coordination with ground AFCAD. very amateurish
BDOAVIATION - PHUKET INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MSFS
Hideki
The scenery and the terminal building are wonderful, but the layout of the entire airport and the runway is out of alignment with respect to the essential functions of airport takeoff and landing, SID, and STAR. Therefore, when landing on ILS 27, the guide lights will shift to the left when approaching, and the guide lights will shift to the right during the final landing. The same applies to SID. Therefore, only three stars can be evaluated. disappointing. Seeking improvement.
