Concorde was jointly developed and produced by Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) under an Anglo-French treaty. Concorde's name reflects the development agreement between the United Kingdom and France. In the UK, any or all of the type—unusually for an aircraft—are known simply as "Concorde", without an article. A total of 20 aircraft were built in France and the United Kingdom; six of these were prototypes and development aircraft. Seven each were delivered to Air France and British Airways. With only 20 aircraft built, the development of Concorde was a substantial economic loss; Air France and British Airways received considerable government subsidies to purchase them.
Concorde needed to fly long distances to be economically viable; this required high efficiency. Turbofan engines were rejected due to their larger cross-section producing excessive drag. Turbojets were found to be the best choice of engines. The engine used was the twin spool Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus 593, a development of the Bristol engine first used for the Avro Vulcan bomber, and developed into an afterburning supersonic variant for the BAC TSR-2 strike bomber. Rolls-Royce's own engine proposed for the aircraft at the time of Concorde's initial design was the RB.169

First of all I got to say I'm using FS2004 to review this sound package, so this review might not to be totally representative of what is capable in FSX.
From the moment I heard TSS were doing a dedicated Concorde sound package I was absolutely over the moon!
As they record their sound packages from real world aircraft all around the world and given that Concorde doesn't fly anymore (sadly), I was curious as to how it would sound given that presumably they'd have to use audio from various videos and other sources.. I was NOT disappointed! They've been able to catch the magic of this aircrafts sound, from the moment of startup to the full throtlle fury of those four Olympus 593 in afterburner!
The sound in the cockpit is captured fantastically, the idle with the avionics and slight whislte from the engines isnt overly done, but as soon as you go full throttle the engines takeover. Once you're in the air the sound of the wind with the combined sound of the engines is great, you truly know you're in a Concorde. And that's just the inside!
The outside.. WOW! The audio is fantastic in HD and with some good speakers or headphones it's amazing! Even though I use FS2004, you still get the spool up sound and huge afterburner sound at full throttle, it's great! When at full throttle, you know this aircraft has afterburners as the roar from the engines is very loud and very fighter jet like. The reverser sounds are nice too.
All in all, this is a great sound package whether you use FS2004 or FSX.
Regards!
