Bournemouth Airport (IATA: BOH, ICAO: EGHH) is a regional airport located near the town of Hurn in Dorset, England, approximately 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) north-northeast of Bournemouth city centre. It serves the south of England and nearby areas, offering domestic and international flights to several European destinations, with regular flights via Ryanair and TUI and occasionally EasyJet flights. It has a rich General aviation hub with companies like Draken Europe, AV8, XLR, 'Jets' Thurston Aviation, Gama and many, many more. It is also home to 'European Cargo', with its fleet of Cargo converted A340-600s aircraft.
History
Established: Originally opened in 1941 as RAF Hurn, the airport was initially used for military operations during World War II. After the war, it became a civilian airport and was officially renamed Bournemouth International Airport in the late 1950s.
Growth: The airport experienced significant growth in the 1990s and early 2000s, especially as budget airlines like Ryanair and easyJet began offering more routes to European cities. In the 1960-1980s it was home to Vickers aircraft/British aerospace making the Viscount and BAC1-11 airliners. Another historic operation is 'Draken Europe' specializing in providing adversary air training and other defence-related aviation solutions. It operates a fleet of aircraft that support military training exercises for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other international clients. The site was previous called 'Cobham' and before that 'Flight Refuelling' with its now ageing Fleet of falcon 20 aircraft.
Facilities
Terminals: The airport has a single passenger terminal, which is small and easy to navigate compared to larger airports. It offers essential services such as duty-free shopping, cafés, and car rental services.
Parking: There are several parking options, including short-stay, long-stay, and premium parking. Parking can be pre-booked online for better rates.
Transportation: Bournemouth Airport is accessible via public transport (bus and taxi services). The nearest train station is Bournemouth, from which buses or taxis can be taken to the airport. The airport is also close to the A338 dual carriageway, offering convenient road access.
Airlines and Destinations
Bournemouth Airport operates flights to several destinations, mainly across Europe. Common routes include:
Spain: Flights to destinations like Alicante, Malaga, and Mallorca.
Portugal: Popular routes to Faro.
Cyprus: Flights to Paphos.
Seasonal Destinations: Some seasonal routes include Turkey, Greece, and the Canary Islands.
Key airlines operating at Bournemouth Airport include:
Ryanair: A major budget airline, providing many of the low-cost European routes.

Fantastic up-to-date rendition of the airport, and Gary is very receptive to feedback as always. Hopefully we'll get an updated version next year with the updated 2025 layout too ????
