Henderson Executive Airport KHND was founded in 1967 as a public airport located in Henderson, Nevada, 13 miles south of Las Vegas. Originally known as Sky Harbor Airport. Clark County bought the airport in 1996 and renamed it Henderson Executive Airport. One quirk is the FAA identifier is HNS and not HND which was already given to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Over the years, Henderson Executive Airport has experienced several expansion projects to enhance its infrastructure and services. These expansions included runway extensions, improved taxiways, updated terminal buildings, and the addition of various amenities.
Henderson Executive Airport has established itself as a vital general aviation hub with over 200 aircraft movements a days, catering primarily to private and corporate aircraft operations. The airport provides services such as refuelling, hangar rentals, maintenance, and flight training. It has a a large Tourist Helicopter base called 'Maverick Helicopter' on the south side, giving pleasure flights in the area.
