Joliet Airport (IATA: JOT, ICAO: KJOT) for MSFS2020 and MSFS2024

Joliet Regional Airport (KJOT) was established in 1930, making it one of the older continuously operating airports in Illinois. Its location southwest of Chicago gave it early strategic importance, especially as aviation began expanding beyond major metropolitan hubs. During World War II, the airport was used for military training and support operations, a common role for regional airports at the time. This period helped justify infrastructure improvements that later benefited civilian aviation. After the war, KJOT transitioned fully into a civilian and general aviation airport. As Chicago’s airspace became increasingly congested, Joliet served as a reliever airport, supporting:
