DMM - OEDF | MSFS 2020/2024 Scenery is a highly detailed recreation of King Fahd International Airport (OEDF) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. Designed for flight simulation enthusiasts and professional virtual pilots, this scenery enhances the realism of Dammam’s major airport with accurate 3D modeling, high-resolution textures, and dynamic lighting to provide an immersive experience.
Key Features:
Accurate Airport Layout: Every taxiway, runway, and apron is meticulously designed to match real-world aeronautical charts.
High-Quality Terminal & Buildings: Custom 3D models of the terminal, control tower, cargo facilities, and surrounding structures with realistic PBR textures.
Detailed Ground Textures: Custom ground markings, and weathering effects, for enhanced realism.
Realistic Night Lighting: Dynamic lighting effects for terminals, taxiways, and runways to ensure immersive night operations.
Custom Jetways & Ground Services: Fully functional jetways and accurately placed ground service equipment to match real-world operations.
Handcrafted Vegetation & Surroundings: Enhanced airport surroundings, including roads, parking areas, and nearby infrastructure.
Optimized for Performance: Designed to provide high detail without sacrificing frame rates, ensuring smooth performance for all users.
Compatible with MSFS 2020 & 2024: Fully optimized for FS 2020 and a more optimized version for FS 2024 will be released soon, utilizing the latest sim technologies.
Whether you're flying commercial routes, cargo operations, or general aviation, DMM - OEDF Scenery brings King Fahd International Airport to life with unparalleled realism and attention to detail.
Note: As of release, the scenery is guaranteed to function properly only on FS 2020, while some FS 2024 SDK quirks are still being resolved. These issues will be fixed shortly, and a more optimized FS 2024 version will be released soon.
The main buildings are modelled in very good quality, so wherever you park with you aircraft, you end up next to a nicely detailed building with good texturing.
The airport however disappoints with the ground textures and the modelling in between taxiways and runways:
- The aerial imagery used as a basis is of extremely low resolution. And this low resolution is often seen next to the taxiways. In other areas things got patched over by pavement textures. However, those often look very sterile generic and repetitive, not at all life-like. A prime example is the ground textures around the fire stations.
- As a consequence there are giant black "streaks" running all over the airport, which I can only guess are supposed to be water drainage canals. But due to the low resolution imagery they are simply flat and black (due to their shadow) but highly pixelated. Those should be modelled in 3D and covered with higher resolution textures.
- The colour of the aerial imagery doesn't match surrounding MSFS colours. Would be fantastic if that could receive some colour correction and would therefore not be visible as a giant bright square in the landscape.
- Many technical installations, sheds and equipment are not modelled in 3D. Glideslope antennas are flat, the VOR station is flat, and various small buildings and sheds remain flat as well.
- When approaching from the north one can see a cliff in the terrain mesh at the border of the scenery. It looks like the airport is made all flat and therefore doesn't match the surrounding terrain.
All in all a promising rendition of OEDF with good buildings, but let down by below-average ground modelling and texturing compared with some competitors. If the developers want to charge premium prices, then certain parts need to be brought to a higher standard.
Vertex Design Studio has truly outdone themselves with this rendition of King Fahd International (OEDF). As someone who’s flown in and out of Dammam in real life, I can confidently say this scenery captures the spirit and architecture of the airport with incredible accuracy.
From the beautifully modeled terminal and jetways to the realistic ground textures and night lighting, every detail feels handcrafted with passion. Performance is smooth, even on complex approaches, and the level of immersion is simply top-tier.
This scenery brings the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia to life in MSFS like never before. Whether you're flying domestic hops or long-haul routes into the Gulf region, OEDF is now a permanent fixture in my simulator.
Can’t wait to see what they release next — highly recommended and absolutely worthy !
I have been flying in flight simulators for years across Saudi Arabia, and this is the first time I truly feel like I’m at a real airport, not just in a simulator.
The level of realism is outstanding, with innovative details that beautifully capture the natural desert environment.
Despite all these intricate details, performance remains excellent I noticed no difference compared to the default airport!
An outstanding job, Vertex!
Amazing OEDF Scenery!
Vertex Design’s OEDF scenery is highly detailed, realistic, and well-optimized. The airport looks great, runs smoothly, and adds to the immersion. A must-have for MSFS!
One of the most powerful and accurate airports I have seen. It is considered a huge airport in terms of design, and they are very interested in the smallest details. I was very keen to land at this airport.
OEDF is the best in Saudi Arabia so far!
The architecture is highly detailed and well-optimized, offering impressive 3D design and textures with excellent performance., and I'd love to see more airport designed by vertex design studio in the future
Thanks Vertex _3
