CLASSIC VERSION (IFR PANEL)

The Cherokee 140 “Classic” version is a Piper Cherokee PA28-140 with IFR capability and an upgraded instrument panel, different than the Original version.

The Classic version of our Cherokee 140 is based on the same airframe and engine as our “Original” version, but is equipped for IFR flight. There are two COM radios and two NAV radios with corresponding OBS instruments. It has the X-Plane g430 GPS, and an STEC 55x autopilot. For our pilots located in other countries besides the USA, we included an ADF receiver. This version is a great choice for pilots who prefer IFR capability, flying ILS approaches with autopilot control, and who enjoy flying hands-free under autopilot. The Classic version panel is modeled after a real-world Piper Cherokee 140 with a slightly more modern instrument panel than was found in the original Cherokees.

Special Features

  • - Beta Tested by Three Real-World Cherokee 140 Pilots
  • Here is a quote from one of our beta testers: “This is by far the most accurate and well flying flight model I have experienced in X-Plane to date. I flew several circuits, and every time I hit the numbers when it came to downwind, base and final speeds and configuration. Really, really well done. This actually feels like flying an airplane!”
  • - Custom Engine Startup Procedure
  • It was our goal to make the Cherokee 140 as real as we could within the limits of X-Plane. Therefore, we created a special plug-in controller engine startup procedure that we think adds greatly to the realism of the model. When is the last time you jumped into an older-model airplane on a cold day, and the engine started immediately? Let’s face it, most older airplanes are a bit hard to start, especially when the weather is cold. We’ve modeled the 140 so that when the engine oil temperature is cold, the engine is harder to start. Conversely, if the engine is already hot or warm, it will be much easier to start.
  • o When you first load the Cherokee 140, the ignition key will be located on top of the glareshield. You must click on the ignition key to place it into the ignition. The engine will not start without the magnetos being ON.
  • o You must open the throttle by at least ¼” before the engine will start.
  • o Mixture should be full rich before starting.
  • o If the engine is quite cold, it may take two tries on the starter to get the engine started.
  • - Special Pilot’s “Trick” for Extra Cruise Speed
  • o A special “trick” was passed along to us by one of our beta testers who regularly flies a Cherokee 140. He told us that if you jam a small object under the flaps lever during cruise flight, you can cause the flaps to deploy by about one degree. If you re-trim the airplane after doing so, you can gain 2-4 KTS of extra speed without changing the power setting. We simulated this “trick” in our model, and it works! To try it out, just click on the Pilot Log Book found in the pilot-side pocket.
  • - Custom Prop Disc
  • o Using the X-Plane Custom Prop Disc features along with plug-in programming, the Cherokee 140 has a 3D-effect spinning prop disc
  • - XChecklist-compatible checklists included
  • o We have included a “clist.txt” file that is compatible with Michal and Bill’s excellent XChecklist plugin available from X-Plane.org at this link:
  • - Custom Recorded Sounds from a real Cherokee 140
  • o In December, 2015, we recorded many internal and external sounds from the real airplane, and the X-Plane version sounds are made from those original recordings. Original sounds include engine starter, engine start-up, engine shut-down, engine noise at various RPM levels, flaps lever sounds, toggle switch sounds, rocker switch sounds, hand brake sound, and more.
  • - Pop-Up Control Menu
  • o Click on the small gear icon at the lower left of the screen to bring up the Control Menu. You can select various camera views, and control various elements such as “Remove Wheel Fairings,” “Open/Close Passenger Door,” “Hide Glass,” “Add/Remove CoPilot,” “Remove Ground Elements,” and un-check “Nose Gear Steers.” See the User Manual included with the 140 for more details on these options.
  • - Simulated Radio Squelch Noise
  • o If you press the “Pull Test”  button on the NARCO MK1D radio, you will hear a simulated radio static noise over the normal radio audio.
  • - Fuses are Operational
  • o You can fail any of the fuses and/or circuit breakers on the panel to practice emergency procedures.
  • - Exterior HDR Custom Parameterized Lighting
  • o The strobe lights are plug-in controlled to create a “staggered” flash sequence. All exterior lights are created using X-Plane’s custom parameterized lighting system with plug-in control. To enjoy the lighting effects to their fullest, HDR Rendering must be ON in your settings. However, the lights will still work with HDR off, they just won’t look as nice.
  • - Wheel Fairings can be Added or Removed using the Control Menu
  • o  if you remove the wheel fairings, the drag co-efficient will be increased by approximately 3%
  • -  Engine Vibration Effects
  • o  The exhaust pipe, ignition key, ailerons and stabilator are animated to appear to shake/vibrate when the engine is running. As you increase engine RPM, the shaking smooths out.
  • -  Spinning Wheels “Blur” Effect
  • o  When the wheels are spinning at faster than 20 KTS, the textures are replaced with a radial-blur effect to add more realism.
  • - Rain and Ice Texture for Windows
  • o When X-Plane indicates that there is precipitation on the windshield, or ice on the airframe, the window glass textures will be replaced with rain or ice effect textures.
  • - Plug-In Enhanced STEC 55x Autopilot
  • o Some features of the autopilot are plug-in controlled, such as Vertical Speed select for VS mode, and Altitude Pre-select for ALT mode.
  • - Headphones Feature - Plug in your headset and the sound volume is reduced. Just click on the pilot's side headphone jacks to "plug in" the headphones!
  • - 5 Different Liveries included
  • - Super Hi-resolution textures used – up to 4K x 4K textures
  • - Fully animated model – if it looks like it should move in real life, it is animated!

Most of them are satisfactory. However, the height of the terminal building is too high. It's very different from the real thing. Hope this gets updated.

Definitely a disappointment! The models are pretty good however the aircraft are few and far between. Would of also liked to be able to have these at the Airports that LVFR created.

SIM SKUNK WORKS - FIAT-AERITALIA G-91 FOR MSFS
Arthur
I have been enthusiastic about this aircraft since childhood and was very happy that the G-91 is available for the MFSF. The design, the details and the presentation of the cockpit inspire me. Unfortunately, I am less enthusiastic about the flight characteristics of the Fiat. At the start I could not keep them on the runway and crashed constantly against airport buildings. SimSkunk advised me, very quickly, to switch to the aircraft model into "Modern". After the changeover I get the Gina at least in the air. There, however, it is extremely unstable, especially around the roll axis. I haven't been able to fly controlled curves so far. The elevator also hardly reacts to the instructions from the cockpit. I also fly the MB-339. It is stable in the air and reacts to rudder movements as I expect. At the moment it is not much fun to fly the G-91. Maybe there will soon be an update that stabilizes the flight behaviour.
PROJECT MAX - CYZF YELLOWKNIFE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT P3D4-5
Timothy
Ridiculously good scenery for the price--or more than the price. MAX keeps getting better. One of these days we'll be saying, "Ah, I knew them when..." And what better time to say thank you for supporting P3D. There is a lot of custom detail, including, of course, the iconic Buffalo hanger. All it needs is a Herman Nelson heater! Plenty of cars and equipment, too. The snow config is super: piles of the stuff, and not all in neat smooth mounds, either. Very realistic. Grey weeds sticking through where it's thinner are a great touch. The pavement is cracked and has puddles, and reflection is used to good effect. I was very impressed. I spent an hour just taxiing around in my Buffalo DC-3 taking in the sights, and it's not a very big airport. The AI traffic was appropriate, too. Lighting is good, and it looks great at night. Five stars doesn't mean it's FlyTampa quality, by the way, but if we have to compare apples and oranges, we should take into account a lot of things, including price and exceeding expectations by a wide margin. This is not some cheap, carelessly knocked out airport. This is really very nice by any standard, and I'm happy to give it five stars. I would have been glad to get any sort of Yellowknife (as an Ice Pilots NWT fan), but this is a very good little airport on its own if you fancy a NWT destination. -
Having said that, I should mention that installation is not exactly a one-click process. In fact, the only clicks are to extract folders and then one to add it from inside P3D. It isn't exactly manual installation (you don't have to look at the scenery.cfg) but it does require attention to detail getting various files (including more than one set of fixes) into the correct places. It probably won't be too hard if you know your way around the P3D folder, but if you've never done this sort of thing before, be aware. Especially since while the instructions do make sense if you already know what you're doing, if you don't and just follow them literally, it's not going to turn out well. If you get in a jam, though, I'm sure the devs would be happy to help, or you could check in with your favorite flight simulation forum, like AVSIM for peer support. Oh, there's also a click or two on the configurator to get those wonderful snow effects. The-
re are a couple of minor graphics issues I've written the developer about. Nothing to cause you to hesitate on a purchase though. I imagine they'll get back to me. They clearly put a lot of effort into this one. A must for Ice Pilots NWT fans, and I can't see anyone who enjoys flying in Canada passing it up. This isn't exactly bush flying. It's a nice flight north from Edmonton and has a First Air terminal. Plenty of appropriate Canadian AI (saw a Canadian North 737: bingo!) Honestly, you won't find better scenery at this price, and you could do worse at twice the price. Just be careful on those valley runs. Nothing good ever happens in Norman Wells on the show ;-)
LEBANZAY DESIGN - GRAPHICS PRESET PACK FOR P3D4-5
Timothy
After all the drama over shaders and settings, how could a cheap little drop-in file produce such great-looking results? I dunno. I just flew from New York to Sao Paulo, Brazil in a DC-8, so I got a great view in the daytime, though sunset, and well into night. It looked great. The colors--includi-
ng sunset--looked natural, and I noticed "the golden hour" as filmmakers call it really did look golden. A sort of warm, rich, but not at all overwhelming lovely tone. I have no idea how this works, but am mighty pleased with the results given the ridiculously low price and easy of installation.

Absolutely perfect! Nothing more to say, definitely the best rendition of LIBP in any flight simulator out there
LATINVFR - AIRPORT STATIC AIRCRAFT FOR ASOBO AIRPORTS MSFS
Rocco
Im trying to give an honest review.. after downloading i was beyond excited for the add-on. The truth is the concept is great and the models are amazing! One problem.. there just isnt enough models!! At KLAX for example there is missing planes at almost every gate on the south side of the airport. There just isnt enough planes to make it feel real like it did in X-Plane's static aircraft add on. Im really hoping they update this as its a bummer because the models are really nice its just there isnt enough of them at the gates. Not to mention some of the models arent even at the gates.
RKBRIDGER - PITTSBURGH BRIDGES MSFS
Tony
Excellent work as always. These bridges are not just thrown together as you can tell from the first glance at one. Night time they come alive! I own all of RKBridgers bridge packages and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to enhance their sim experience.
