The Longbow is a modern development of the unrivalled Apache design. Longbow is characterised by its AN/APG-78 "Longbow" radome installed atop the rotor. The aircraft features more powerful engines in the form of the T700-GE-701C, as well as a glass cockpit and modern systems. The Apache Longbow has also been built by Westland for the British Army, in the guise of the WAH-64 Apache AH Mk 1. The Apache Longbow is operated by many of the worlds major air arms, including the US Army, British AAC and the Israeli Air Force.

Regarding the design as well as the flight dynamics this is a very nice model. Even with FS 2004 it looks simply awesome and the sound of the engine and rotor will send shivers down your back. BUT: Its use is unfortunately VERY limited. Due to the very limited equipment of this aircraft, it is actually impossible to fly IFR with it. It would be a nice chopper to practice ILS approaches etc. but that unfortunately does not work. Everyone looking for a chopper to fly low-level at high speed with, enjoying the landscape will have a good choice here. Those looking for an attack helicopter useable for terrain-following as well as IFR flights should rather have a look for something else.

Die Helis von Virtavia sehen auf den Produktbildern alle recht klasse aus finde ich und ich habe mich nach ein paar YouTube Videos erst mal für den AH-64D Apache Longbow entschieden. Auch wenn er von den Systemen recht einfach gehalten ist (Schalter sind da, haben aber nicht alle eine Funktion), ist das Teil dennoch ein echtes Tier und es macht wirklich Laune damit knapp über den Boden zu heizen oder ein paar Kunststücke hinzulegen. Aussen/Innen-Modelle sowie die Texturen finde ich klasse und der Sound ist ebenfalls gelungen. Mir persönlich ist dieser AH-64D Longbow 5 Sterne wert :)
