The Rockwell B-1B Lancer, affectionately known as the "Bone" to its crews, is a key element of the American Strategic Long Range bomber fleet. A development of the cancelled B-1A, the aircraft - while not technically stealth capable - still presents a fraction of the radar profile of the B-52 and incorporates extremely advanced navigation, weapons, and avionics systems. Its swing wing technology, combined with four 30,000-lb thrust turbofan, engines creates a beautiful, fast, and lethal package. The development of this successor to the B-52 began in the early 1960's and resulted in a contract being awarded to Rockwell in 1970. The B-1A first flew in 1974 but soon ran into political trouble. The project was cancelled in 1977 when only 3 prototypes existed. 1981 saw Ronald Reagan order a fleet of 100 B-1Bs, the last of which were delivered in the early 1990's. Designed for low-level, high speed penetration, the B-1B saw action in the Kosovo conflict and second Gulf War.

This product features our simInstaller technology and is available after purchase via our APP only.
It takes 3-5 business days to roll this. Having checked airshows on YouTube, even with the wings back it should be way more agile.
The sound design and the afterburner effects are also quite a let down. All you want to do with the B1 is go external view and marvel at it, but the experience outside isn't up to scratch. Would love some vapor in there too!
I'm very grateful to have the chance to fly this incredible machine in the sim so thank you to Virtavia for getting it out regardless. Really hope there's an update to address the issues.
Lets start with some positives. I'm grateful to Virtavia for bringing this aircraft to MSFS. Overall I think the model and Virtual cockpit is actually quite nice despite it's low clickable functionality. I also like the startup effects of smoke when you first start the engines but unfortunately that's where the first noticeable negative part of this aircraft is highlighted, the engine sounds are quite simply awful at any increment and on full power, considering this is one of the loudest aircraft about the sound is really quite lame. The afterburner effects side-on look great but when you are actually looking into the engines, the burner rings are nonexistent. External lighting effects are a bit dismal. The other issue is the handling, it's no secret that the B-1B handles extremely well for a bomber and that has been stated by many B-1 pilots, so why does this handle more like a B-52? The roll rate is especially poor. And of course the subsonic restriction is disappointing, but I believe that is being worked on. Overall I feel somewhat disappointed by this addon and I think many people would agree that if this had more time spent on it before release people would happily have spent even more on this aircraft. To sum it up, this is an average addon at the moment. But with a bit more work it could be one of the best and a real fan favourite! Come on Virtavia, sort it out! Please!
I live next to Ellsworth AFB in SD and i see these fly every day on their practice runs or touch and go routines. Hearing the engines roar when flying over my house or go to my wife's work, which is on the base, I get to watch these take off and land. I'm been wanting to fly the B1-B Lancer in MSFS for a really long time and was very disappointed i didn't see it on their plane list. I know some things in the cockpit aren't true for visual aspects, but to be honest, that doesn't really bother me, as long it has near to the real deal graphics and good mechanics for flying, that's good enough for me. I don't really understand why people give bad reviews on something where it takes a long while to design and release to the people, I know they want the "real thing 100%" but it's a video game. You won't get the real thing. Anyway, don't want to sound rude or anything, but I now get to fly all the planes and military jets and bombers on MSFS. The only thing I'd like is for the engines to roar a bit more. The engines sound more like a airliner, versus what the B1 can actually do when engines are at 100%.
Im basised about this as i LOVE the B-1B... For being what it is, its fun. but the Flight module feels way to slugish compared to IRL. the B-1B is known for a really good roll rate which this doesnt have.. like a 747 might have a better turn rate LOL. 1 livery is alright and looks alright. the cockpit is a mess. and some parts are incorrect too like the left panel from the left seat. . the VDI is alright but incorrect.
for 23 usd... not worth it but if your a B-1 lover like me maybeeee
With the first update to add supersonic flight it's solid! There's only one external livery but the textures look great. The internal model isn't super-detailed, alas, but the proper displays and functionality are there. I'm more obsessed with the "experience" letting me feel like I'm flying this type of aircraft than picking apart textures, and the flight model and performance feels authentic.
I'd love to see more liveries, and some GPS functionality. But overall, it's a super-fun experience at a really low price! No regrets at all in my purchase!
Seems like a pretty cheap port-over with little love from the developer. Still a fair bit of blurry textures and the AP seems to do what it wants rather than what it's set to.
