Cairo is the capital of Egypt and the province of the same name. It is the largest city in the Arab world and in Africa.

Cairo is located on the banks and islands of the River Nile, south of the delta. To the southwest is Giza and the ancient necropolis of Memphis, with the plateau of Giza and its monumental pyramids, such as the Great Pyramid of Cheops.
