Newcastle International Airport is situated in the area of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, about 6 miles north of the city centre. Newcastle International was rated the 11th busiest airport in the UK, and the second busiest in Northern England, with Manchester coming first, handling over 4.8 million passengers.
The airport is owned by seven local authorities: City of Newcastle, City of Sunderland, Durham County Council, Gateshead MBC, North Tyneside MBC, Northumberland County Council and South Tyneside MBC. Copenhagen Airport sold the stake in Newcastle to AMP Capital, which is an Australian based investment company.
Newcastle airport was opened on 26th July 1935 and was known back then as Woolsington Aerodrome – the airport was opened by Sirt Phillip Cunliffe-Lister, Secretary of State for Air. At this time, the airport consisted of one clubhouse, one hangar, few workshops, a fuel garage and a single grass runway with a building cost of around £35,000.
Nice enough scenery, bit disappointing animated features wise etc, For instance there is NIL car traffic static or dynamic at the terminal or terminal passenger drop off point- I mean COME ON this you would think should be included it goes without saying... who want's a deserted main terminal entrance- plain lazy especially at almost £20GBP, i've paid the same for almost MEGA airports!
Like the SODE jetways, but overall the airport needs more hussle and bussle with animated traffic etc, and the internal terminal view, viewed from the outside on aircraft stand looks a bit weird like someone took a picture and stuck it on the terminal window!
Slightly disappointed overall was expecting and hoping for much more in way of overall airport environment, it needs much more to bring it to life, good FPS- likely as a direct result that there isn't much going on at all around the airport environment, Stick to UK2000 as old as it is it knocks it's socks off in terms of creating an actual airport environment!
This Newcastle scenery is a gem proving to have an edge over the UK2000 variant. The scenery is good on the frame rate and looks good. Definitely recommend!
