The name "Skiathos" is derived from "skia" (greek for "shadow") and is named after the shadows of the countless trees covering the island of Skiathos. Following "Mykonos X", "Skiathos X" is the second island project by the development group "29Palms Scenery Design", taking you to the Northern Sporades of Greece.
The airport of the island is considered to be the „Greek St. Maarten“ because of its spectacular approach. The runway reaches the surrounding sea on both its ends and is in total only 1628m long. Bigger aircrafts like a Boeing 757-200 are forced to perform low approaches.
Although there are plenty of signs warning about the danger of the jetblasts of starting airplanes, some people still prefer to remain there for the „buzz“ of the jet engines blast.
The entire island has been realistcly recreated based on many references from the real island. There are over 250.000 custom-made and hand-placed Autogen-objects covering over 100km² of high-resolution satelite imagery(0.3-05m/px).
In addition there are many animations such as swarms of seagulls, soundeffects and high-resolution textures.
You may fly low over the tourists, visit the final approach or go to discover the island - this scenery offers everything in an extraordinary level of detail.

All of the Greek island sceneries sold by Aerosoft are excellent! Skiathos is equal to Rhodes and Mykonos. The airport is perfectly modeled and has a lot of details around it. You’ll even see some nut standing on a concrete block snapping off pictures at all hours complete with his flash. A couple cars and beach goers are also modeled at either end of the runway. The runway does in fact resemble TNCM greatly. It’s like a smaller version on the other side of the planet. The custom autogen is excellent. Many many unique buildings and stuff can be found all around the island which feels alive. The island is beautiful day and night. Absolutely worth it for not just the challenging airport approaches but also the views all around.
Well, let me say that Skiathos X is a Jewell among the Greece isles!
29Palms has made a Jewell out of it. And I am not joking!
I am used to many Good Airports bought via Aerosoft. But this one is terrible good!
My first landing on Skiathos X was a Crash! Forgot the landing gear!!
Because I was too much impressed of the great textures.
Everything is very very detailed. Much to see, believe me.
In facto it is a small airport. But great software from 29Palms!
And there are a lot of possibilities to choose in the configuration.
Nothing more to say. And greetings from Richard. Netherlands.
Ps: but watch the download of 1.5GB. I needed half hour for it.
What a attention for details. When you are at the runway and look around you really have the feeling of being on Skiathos.Very well done! Mykonos is from the same designers and is of the same quality!
