Feel the world beneath you.

Bring your airports and low-level flying environments to life with standing 3D grass and plants. AliveGrass dynamically adds modeled vegetation around your camera on suitable terrain in X-Plane 12, giving fields, airport surroundings and rural landscapes visible depth and natural variation.

From a general aviation cockpit to a helicopter landing or a ground-level screenshot, AliveGrass adds the small details that make the world feel more present. Global placement follows your camera without requiring you to edit individual airports in WED.

Modeled nearby grass and plants, with simpler 3D clusters for distant coverage.
132 vegetation clump variations across 11 biome groups, including airport, meadow, wetland, coastal, alpine, tundra, desert, tropical and scrub environments.
Short grass for suitable grass runways and natural mown vegetation beside airport pavement.
Placement uses available airport and scenery data to exclude hard runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, water and buildings.
Progressive camera-based streaming for cockpit, external and free-camera views.
Wind movement in nearby vegetation.
Green, wet, dormant and snowy plant appearances that respond to simulator conditions.
Seasonal growth adjusted for date, hemisphere and approximate regional climate.
Adjustable coverage radius from 20 to 5,000 metres.
Distant fullness and plant-budget controls, plus Low, Balanced, Dense and Ultra presets.
Advanced settings for height, spacing, slope tolerance, pavement clearance and streaming.

Choose your view
Adjust range and density to suit your aircraft, camera and hardware. Nearby plants receive finer detail; distant coverage uses simpler geometry. Higher coverage and density increase rendering work, and new scenery loads progressively.

Placement depends on the terrain and scenery data available. Pavement visible only in aerial imagery may not be identifiable. Aircraft, liveries, trees and airport scenery shown in screenshots are separate content.

AliveGrass is an independent X-Plane 12 enhancement from AionSky Studios.

X-Plane 12 with scenery installed for the areas you intend to use.

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, or macOS 12 Monterey or newer.

The Mac package includes Apple Silicon and Intel binaries; the Windows package is x64.

A system meeting X-Plane 12 requirements, with additional CPU, memory and graphics capacity for the selected vegetation settings.

Approximately 2.1 GB for the installed plugin. Allow additional free disk space for extraction and scenery indexing/cache.

Write access to the plugin installation folder for settings and cache files.

Start with the supplied settings and adjust coverage, distant fullness and plant budget for your system. High settings, including the 5,000 m coverage radius, require more rendering capacity.

Linux: an experimental x86_64 test build is available separately for community testing. Confirmed Linux release support is pending tester feedback.
