Fly a mock FAA practical test for the multi-engine rating right inside X-Plane 12.
A virtual examiner calls out each checkride task, grades your flying against the ACS (Airman Certification Standards) tolerances, and gives you a report that shows exactly what to work on next.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Fly – Pick a single task, or run the whole checkride. The examiner calls out each task; press Ready and fly it. Grading starts and ends by itself.
2. Get graded – Altitude, heading, airspeed and bank are checked against the ACS standards. A slip you correct within 3 seconds is forgiven, just like a real examiner would treat a momentary needle swing.
3. Review – Your report opens in the browser: score, flight path on a map, every task, and where to focus next.
TWO WAYS TO PRACTICE
Checkride mode – All 26 PPL/AMEL tasks in a standard order, in one session. Pass or fail is held back until the debrief, as in a real practical test. No time limits, and you can rearrange the task order before you start.
Practice mode – Pick one task and see the result right away. Try again as often as you like. For airborne tasks the plugin puts you at the altitude and airspeed you choose.
MULTI-ENGINE TASKS
• Engine Failure After Liftoff – heading and airspeed held after one engine is retarded
• Maneuvering with One Engine Inoperative – altitude, airspeed and heading held on asymmetric power
• VMC Demonstration – recovery to your aircraft's recovery speed (e.g. Vyse), judged from your throttle use, bank and airspeed. No stall warning is needed.
ALSO INCLUDED
• Ground: Contact Ground and Contact Tower (ATC quizzes), taxi, before-takeoff run-up
• Takeoff: short-field takeoff and maximum performance climb
• Airborne: straight-and-level, climbs and descents, turns to headings, steep turns (left and right), slow flight, power-off and power-on stalls, turns around a point, emergency descent
• Pattern and landing: traffic pattern, go-around, normal / soft-field / short-field takeoffs, approaches and landings
FEATURES
• Works with any twin – enter your aircraft's Vx, Vy, slow-flight and VMC recovery speed once; they are remembered per aircraft
• Detailed report with flight path, task-by-task results and focus areas, plus a history of your flights
• Multiple pilot profiles on one computer
• Native plugin – no Python, no XPPython3, nothing else to install
• Your flight history stays on your computer
• User manual in English and Japanese included
REQUIREMENTS
• X-Plane 12
• Windows 10/11 or macOS 11 or later (Apple silicon and Intel)

Checkride Examiner is a practice and training aid for flight simulation. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA, and it does not replace instruction from a certified flight instructor or a real practical test.
SIMULATOR
• X-Plane 12 (Windows or macOS)
• X-Plane 11 and earlier are not supported
OPERATING SYSTEM
• Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
• macOS 11 or later (Apple silicon and Intel)
SOFTWARE
• No other software required – no Python and no XPPython3
• A web browser to open your flight report (any current browser)
AIRCRAFT
• Works with any X-Plane aircraft
• PPL / AMEL edition: a multi-engine aircraft is required for the three multi-engine tasks
• You enter your aircraft's Vx, Vy and slow-flight speed once in Settings (plus the VMC recovery speed for AMEL)
LICENSE
• One license key activates one computer
• An internet connection is needed to activate; the plugin re-checks the license from time to time and works offline for a grace period in between
