The new X-Plane 12 has been completely overhauled. I have written this handbook to help you set it up correctly. This book is not a replacement for the official X-Plane 12 manual; but rather should be used in conjunction with it as a step-by-step guide to setting up X-Plane on a Windows PC. This book is a supplement to the official Laminar Research manual - primarily for Windows users.  The emphasis is on setting up X-Plane 12 correctly right at the start. I have approached the reader with a Windows 11 operating system in mind. (X-Plane obviously works with Windows 10 it’s similar enough for you to follow along if you don’t have Windows 11). While all the X-Plane 12 information applies to the Apple Mac user, the Hardware and O/S setup are obviously not applicable to MAC users - the X-Plane contents of the book, however, certainly apply to Mac-based machines.

The book also includes many clarifications, tips and answers to many questions and problems that customers have approached me with over the past few years of offering X-Plane 11 assistance.

  • The E-Book is 347 pages (175 double spreads) in length

Flying Low - the X-Plane 12 Handbook is book 1 of a two-book series. This book covers the installation and usage of the "out-of-the-box" software package X-plane 12. The second book will cover add-ons and scenery, and I will publish the second book in a few months’ time. It can't be published now because add-on makers, plug-in programmers and scenery creators need to get their hands on the finished X-Plane product and complete their new/updated products first.

Book 1 starts by discussing your intentions and your needs for your simulator.

Then we go on to hardware considerations - computer and peripherals.

We assume you will set up X-Plane 12 from scratch, either with new hardware (buyer's guide included) or with your existing hardware.

Then we begin step-by-step instructions on setting up the Windows 11 operating system to run X-Plane 12 optimally. Most of the tips are equally valid for a Windows 10 system.

Once the computer(s) are set up, we look at peripheral calibration and the setting up of the X-Plane 12 simulator itself.

Next, we look at optimizing X-Plane 12 in detail—a large section of short "How To" articles follow. The X-Plane 12 manual deals with most of these, but I have taken a different approach to explain things.

The book's final part consists of an extensive illustrated glossary of aviation terms that you will likely come across when flying X-Plane 12.

REQUIREMENTS

Since this file is huge (1.4GB), it might be a good idea to install a PDF reader. While Microsoft Edge (which contains a PDF reader and is already included in Windows 11) will work, but the loading time of the PDF can take an unacceptably long time (40 seconds or longer). A dedicated PDF reader will load the file almost immediately. I recommend that you download and install Sumatra PDF - an excellent freeware PDF reader that is fast and doesn't affect X-Plane12. Alternatively, you can download the ubiquitous Adobe Reader.

Very fun to fly. Very good options. Just well done.

Airport textures and gates are good. I see a distinct lack in any interior modeling and just feels like the airport is a little bare with no vehicles moving or more detailed ground objects besides textures

Good airport and ground textures. Happy with it except the interior modeling is nonexistent. If you find it on sale for under 10 euros its worth it for the beautiful area and airport itself
FLYSIMWARE LLC - CESSNA 414AW CHANCELLOR MSFS

I will have to give this 2 stars for the level of detail it does bring to MSFS. The other 3 stars I deducted for two primary reasons. First, the plane is well done; however, for $13 U.S. less, you can purchase the C310R which is by far more comprehensive and accurate than what Flysimware offers in the C414AW. Second, I have witnessed support members from Flysimware embarrass and disrespect members of their Discord who ask questions. I was one such person who took the brunt of a verbal assault for asking a question. Poor customer service is no way to establish a long-term positive relationship with the same people you want to purchase your software. In summary, if you are looking for a challenge in a twin-engine Cessna that offers a level of accuracy and system depth near unrivaled along with world-class customer support, save yourself money and get the C310. You can use that saved money to purchase other products.

Beautifully Done… cant wait to see more Nigerian airports please

outstanding product, remarkable detail (i.e. the moving shuttle from train station to airport, the clock at the entrance is functional !); the place becomes wonderful with AIG software, Pisa city and industrial area mod, and vehicles traffic addon my suggestion towards immersion improvement would be to add some GA and military static aircrafts, because the emptiness of southern/north eastern parking areas ... and, why not, a few static tourists in front of the arrivals/depart-
ures entrance, just checking the clock ;) thanks

Great enhancement. Too many trucks and it is also ridiculous to see them on moving around on narrow, winding and remote roads. Please update, thanks.
DRZEWIECKI DESIGN - WARSAW CITY X FSX P3D

This developer makes some of the largest sceneries I’ve seen. Warsaw is a massive area full of amazing sites, details and discoveries. It’s one of the best for helicopters, and crop dusters. Metropolitan area is full of unique tall buildings and historical sites. Several villages and small air strips to explore as well as vast farming areas. Loads of detail around every corner. Next to Seattle X this is a favorite scenery to fly. Based on use with FSX Steam Win 10 i7 16GB ram Intel UHD630 integrated GPU. Running near max settings with no loss of frame rates. Amazing!
