Fieseler Fi 156 Storch in two models and 4 Swiss repaints
Mission „Rescue on the Gauligletscher“ and 4 other missions with glacier flights
Manual in German, English and French
1. Swiss glacier landing fields
To be considered: Requires Switzerland Professional by FlyLogic
The glacier landing fields designed for this addon are also used for real glacier flying in Switzerland. Usually airports in FSX are designed in a flat environment. The glacier landing fields are designed with a slope between 3.0° and 8.4° in direction for landing and takeoff and are a special feature of this addon. Take the chance to experience flying on the photorealistic glacier on the basis of Switzerland Professional X.
The landing fields on the following glaciers are included:
Allalin
Gauligletscher
Glärnischfirn
Grand Gombin
Griesgletscher
Les Diablerets
Monte Rosa
Pigne d’Arolla
Plaine Morte
Plateau de Trient
Special features of the glacier landing fields:
Specially designed landing fields with a slope of 3.0° to 8.4°
Ski tracks on the landing fields for better visibility
Acoustic effects: Combined touch down sound for snow surface and concrete runway
Visual effects: Snow cloud during takeoff and landing and with higher motor rpm
Snow surface on the glaciers for realistic behavior of the plane on snow
Red marking frame of the landing fields for better visibility to be switched on and off by means of the COM1 frequency
Static aircraft and other 3D objects on the landing fields
2. Airplane – Fieseler Fi 156 Storch
The Fieseler Storch was designed by Simon Smeiman. The version with wheels combined with skis was specially designed for Swiss Glacier Pilot Volume 2. The four classical Swiss Air Force paint schemes were designed by Kurt Stöckli.
Special features of the Fieseler Storch:
For this addon, some of the aerodynamic parameters were slightly adapted in order to reach the altitude for the glaciers up to 13'000 feet.
The following features were added to the Fieseler Storch:
Combination of wheels and skis. The skis can be lowered for landing on glaciers and raised for landings on hard surface.
Two models with or without shooter on the back seat.
Four Swiss Air Force paint schemes A-96, A-97, A-98 und A-99.
Animations of all control surfaces.
Detailed and very realistic virtual cockpit.
Very realistic engine sound.
Automatic activation of the parking brake when trying to take off on a concrete runway with the skis in lower position.
When placing the aircraft by means of the FSX menu "go to airport...", the mixture is set automatically to the actual altitude.
3. FSX-Missions
The glacier flying missions are available in English, German and French. The preferred language version can be selected during installation.
The Missions are grouped into three different types of flights: Flying from an airfield to one of the glaciers:
Rescue on the Gauligletscher
November 19, 1946, After WWII in Europe, a C-53 Dakota with US-Generals with their wives and a little girl on board took off at Vienna heading toward Pisa. A heavy thunderstorm drifted the airplane over the Swiss Alps. Like a miracle the pilot could fly around the dangerous peaks of the alps until it crashed on the Gauligletscher. Then the spectacular rescue operations in the Swiss Alps began.
The Mission „Rescue on the Gauligletscher“ takes you from the airport Meiringen to the location where you can see the crashed C-53 Dakota. After that you proceed to the landing field on the Gauligletscher and then back to Meiringen.
From an airport to a glacier landing field
From Wangen-Lachen to the Glaernischfirn
From Sion to the Plateau du Trient
Flying between three glaciers
From the glacier of Allalin via the glacier of Monte-Rosa-Gletscher to the glacier of Theodul
From Plaine-Morte via the glacier on the Wildhorn to the glacier on Les Diablerets
(this mission only if Volume 1 is installed)
