Für einige unserer Leser dürften die Szenerien von Düsseldorf, Dubai und Gretchen ein verfrühtes Weihnachtsgeschenk sein. Die drei Produkte starten in unserer Best-of-Liste durch und fliegen auf die Podiumsplätze, zumindest auf Düsseldorf wurde lange genug gewartet – eigentlich unglaublich lange, das erinnert doch gleich wieder an den Airbus X Extended. Der Sidestick-Flieger ist nun schon sehr lange angekündigt und darf noch vor Weihnachten, also Mitte Dezember, zum Landeanflug ansetzen, vorausgesetzt der Nebel hat sich verzogen und die Freigabe wird erteilt.

Es sind diese Premiumprodukte, die unsere Flugsimulation braucht! Tausende Fans haben auf die wichtigen Flughäfen gewartet, mit bekannten Flugzeugen wie der Airbus-A320-Serie und der Boeing 737. Der Flight Simulator X ist jetzt in seinen besten Jahren, dies trifft auch für die professionelle Weiterentwicklung der Lockheed Martin Prepar3D zu. Auf meinen Reisen zu den Cockpitsimulatoren habe ich schon zahlreiche Stunden auf dem Sitz vorne links absolviert; es ist daher inzwischen schwer geworden, mich zu beeindrucken. Frank Willfeld ist dies jedoch gelungen! Er hat mit seinem Airbus A320 – direkt am Flughafen Zürich im OPS, nur mit Mitarbeiterausweis erreichbar – das für mich aktuell beste visuelle Modell eines Cockpitsimulators zusammengebastelt. In zahlreichen Arbeitsstunden, mit viel Kreativität und Programmierwissen wurden die Wolken, Wasser, Szenerien, Farben, einfach alles umgebaut und verbessert. Mein nächster Besuch in Franks Simulator wird nicht lange auf sich warten lassen.

In Hergiswil findet jedes Jahr aufs Neue das traditionelle FS Weekend statt. Die Flight! Redaktion war wie gewohnt vor Ort und schildert ihre Erlebnisse in einem ausführlichen Bilderbericht, der dieses Jahr erneut aus der Feder von Nicco stammt.

Die Flight! wird interaktiver. Mit unserer sehr erfolgreichen Facebook-Gruppe, die inzwischen über achttausend Fans zählt, unserer Website, die täglich über zehntausend Besucher anlockt, sowie unserem bestens bekannten Forum und unserer neuen iPad-App verbinden wir in Zukunft verstärkt Print mit Digital. Sie finden ab dieser Ausgabe die QR-Codes passend zu den Artikeln, so gelangen Sie sofort zu den Videos, Bildern und Downloads. Für 2013 wird sich der Erscheinungstag ihrer Flight! ändern, ab der Januarausgabe erscheinen wir jeweils am ersten oder zweiten Montag des Monats, wie gewohnt weiterhin monatlich, kritisch und unabhängig.
