In 1945, following World War II, Czechoslovakia, which had been the location of several Messerschmitt Bf-109 manufacturing plants, found itself with a substantial stock of unused Bf-109 components. In need of an air force, Czechoslovakia decided to use this stockpile to build it's own fighter aircraft, which is christened the Avia S-199. Initially built purely from existing parts stocks, the aircraft gradually evolved into something unique. For example, when engine DB605 engine stocks ran out, the Jumo 211F was used, changing the aircraft's appearance substantially.

Aside from the visible engine change, the most notable external differences between the original Bf-109G and the final S-199 were gear axles that made the main gear wheels vertical when on the ground, and the sliding canopy. The cockpit was altered here and there, the most noticible elements there being the replacement of the gun cover with a baggage compartment, the inclusion of a VSI, and new Revi gunsight mount and gun round counter.

Later types also used the second fuselage tank, formerly for the MW boost, as a second fuel tank, giving better range. Drop tanks were normally only for reconnaissance versions.

The Israeli version from 1948 represents an intermediate type, still with the old Erla canopy and canted main gear wheels, along with the external oil cooler radiator under the engine. This model also features the ETC50 bomb rack.

The S-199 was the backbone of the Czech fighter force until 1957. That makes 22 years of use from Willy Messerschmitt's basic 109 airframe design - not bad! The Hispano Aviacion HA-1112 K.1.L Tripala and Hispano Aviación HA-1112 M.1.L Buchon, the Spanish-built variants, were retired in 1955, so the Avia S-199 marks the final stop in the career of a famous aircraft type. It was replaced by the Mig-15.

The S-199 was well known for it's immensely strong torque on take-off and bad tendency to swing on landing, giving it a highly unfavorable reputation. However, an Israeli pilot stated that despite its bad ground habits, the S-199 in 1948 would climb and dive better than the P-51 Mustang and Spitfire, and could out-turn the Mustang.

  • Working Flettner tabs on the rudder;
  • Accurate pilot;
  • Propeller blades which alter their angle with prop setting;
  • Functioning automatic/manual coolant flaps, which also serve as landing flaps;
  • 3D gauges in the VC, for incredible realism;

Please note that the S-199 is a fairly demanding model, and is recommended for computers 3 Ghz and above, with dedicated graphics cards. However, those with less powerful computers (e.g.2.8 Ghz) have also run Flight Replicas aircraft without serious problem.

Beautiful airport, but there's an issue with the afcad. AI airplanes park where the nice static planes were placed. So you have AI on top of the static. The photo scenery is nicely done, but it doesn't play well with the freeware Italian scenery package. It does blend well with ORBX/LC/Vectors-
. You can disable some of the photo included, but god luck finding the .bgl files. They have unusual names and you will have to go through one by one. There's also a slight performance hit when viewing the terminal. Ha-
ving said all that, I think it's a beautiful looking airport even though a bit over priced even when it's on sale. Lastly I contacted support and did not receive a prompt response. If they fix the afcad, I'll revise my review.

Leider kann ich diesem Produkt nicht mehr als 3 Sterne geben. Der Rasen fehlt, der Übergang zwischen RWY bzw. Taxiway zu Rasenoberfläche existiert einfach nicht, alles irgendwie zusammen gebastelt. Desweiteren verbraucht dieses Addon sehr viel Leistung, trotz der abgeschalteten statischen Flugzeugen und Live Traffic. Auch das neueste Update brachte keine Verbesserung. -
Der Airport an sich ist zwar ganz gut umgesetzt, jedoch für mich ist es keine Option mehr diesen Flughafen in meiner Sammlung zu behalten.

Lange habe ich diesen Flughafen vermisst, trat ich doch hier über geraume Zeit beinahe jeden Flug nach Italien an. Nun gibt es gleich zwei Anbieter für LFSB. Jeder mag für sich entscheiden. Ich habe mich für Justsim entschieden, denn hier wird auf eine Engine verzichtet, die mir auf 3 verschiedenen Systemen und 3 verschiedenen Simulatoren (sie beginnt mit "C" und hört mit "tl" auf, die Versionen waren FS9, FSX, Prepar3D V4) irgendwann alles zerschossen hat. Die Version von Justsim ist nicht perfekt, es gibt Unstimmigkeiten mit dem Terrain (ich verwende alles von ORBX). Aber insgesamt sehr gelungen, die Performance ist gut und ich bin zufrieden. Ich kann den Kauf bedenkenlos empfehlen.

Well, it’s a start! As someone who wants an easy to use product this fits the bill, it works seamlessly in the background. In Europe,though, there didn’t seem to be much by way of English or German speaking ATC, have I missed something? It’s inexpensive and gives some extra immersion so I’m not going to criticise. Hopefully it can be expanded with additional sounds because the concept, not new I know, works well in P3d...

Just had the opportunity to test LTAC. Stunning scenery which includes high res textures, and not a single building is not omitted, many SODE objects including jetways and high res photographic seasonal terrain textures are extraordinary.

Pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the Rafale on the market, and confident in the quality of Roland Laborie’s productions, I immediately acquired the "beast". Superb design, elegant model and faithful to the silhouette of the Rafale, the flight model is satisfactory even if I am not a Rafale pilot in real life. I am currently testing it and I am very satisfied with the result. Thank you Mr Roland for allowing the French flagships to fly, like the very successful Airbus A400.
