FSCaptain 1.8.2 is an add-on to Microsoft Flight Simulator FS2004 and FSX (Box and Steam Edition) and to Lockheed Martin's Prepar3d (Versions 2, 3 4 and 5) which expands the program so everyone can experience the challenge of professional flying in the modern world of aviation. That's what we mean when we say our goal is "making flight simulators into aviation simulators."
FSCaptain takes the boredom out of Flight Simulator by giving you a reason to fly and a highly realistic professional modern aviation environment in which to prove and develop your skills. You might be an ace at handling your airplane, whether that be a light twin or a B747 or an A380, but can you fly it meeting the demands that real-world Air Transport Pilots face?
FSCaptain provides what Flight Simulator left out in simulating the modern aviation world. You'll have a company to work for, and they will have rules and policies you need to follow. You'll have a flight crew and a cabin crew (if you're flying an airplane large enough -- FSCaptain isn't just for Big Iron, you can be a small plane or bush pilot if you want.)  But much more than that, you'll have passengers and/or cargo to haul and the passengers will react and measure your performance -- and so will your employer. What they'll want is for you to make every flight safely and on-time with happy passengers or intact cargo.
As you start your career you'll find that now your flights have much more meaning. You are building a record - a record of professional accomplishment, not just a log of your travels.
You'll also probably find that being given assignments instead of making up your own is a challenge in itself. You'll sometimes be assigned times and airports and into weather conditions that will stretch your skills. (Of course you can set up your own flights if you want to, you're the boss.)
And suddenly with FSCaptain the safe world of Flight Simulator is more like reality. Thunderstorms are dangerous now and need to be avoided. Icing is a real threat (Don't forget to use your anti-ice!), and runways and taxiways can be slippery and dangerous.  We've long offered the most comprehensive flight-sim ground deicing model, and now we offer SimObject deicing trucks and spray effects.
Have you been ignoring things like cabin pressure and temperature? You can be sure your passengers won't ignore them, so you better not. And there are birds in the air you could hit, or you could experience any one of dozens of mechanical failures, or have a passenger with a medical emergency, or even have smoke seeping into the passenger cabin. Are you up on your emergency procedures? By default these emergencies are rare, like in the real world, but they can happen.
You may be used to working with ATC realistically, but have you experienced the other side of professional pilot life, dealing with your company and its dispatchers? You will in FSCaptain. Because that's real life in the real world of aviation.
Beyond its commitment to realism, FSCaptain is comprehensive and flexible. You can take on any role you feel up to -- from a newbie cargo captain for a small outfit in a remote area of the world to the prestige of commanding a huge widebody passenger airliner with its substantial cabin crew. You are not limited in the type or size of the aircraft you can start your career with. You can choose to fly for cargo or passenger airlines, or those that do both. Your airline can have easy policies to adhere to, or they can be difficult. You are in control.
You can create your own airlines or fly one of the dozens of real-world ones provided with the package. You can even import AI schedules from inside Flight Simulator or from some AI package websites (any schedules, even those that you may have added from third parties) and make them into FSCaptain airline schedules.
FSCaptain is easy to install and use, but it is not a cakewalk to climb the ladder of success. Each flight you make is graded, and to advance up the pay steps for your airline requires a minimum time in hours flown for each advancement along with a minimum average flight score for the level you are currently on. Much of your flight score is based on your on-time performance -- just like in the real world. But also, passenger satisfaction and adherence to company policies as well as safe operating practices are all factored in.
You will feel the pressure real pilots feel to meet schedules and be on-time, but not to cut corners with safety. Your flying skills will mostly determine your ability to keep the customers happy while they are riding with you, but your timing and communication skills are important too!
If you want more realism and a more professional approach to the job of being your own virtual airline pilot (cargo or passenger) FSCaptain might be for you! Try it and see -- the demo is free and does everything the registered program does, except only allowing takeoffs from six airports - EGCC, EGGD, EGJJ, KOLM, KPDX and KSEA.

I've been into Flight Simulator since Microsoft flight sim 2001! If you are like me and used FS Passengers and learned to rely on it as a must now have on Microsoft FSX but since have upgraded to P3DV4. 64 bit you will be aware that FS Passengers dose not support a 64 bit Flight sim environment and is now obsolete due to the developer supposedly rewriting the code for his upcoming but never completed for nearly 4 years now finished revision of FS Passengers then this is just what you need!. I suppose you could even say it's FS Passengers on Steroids. Well worth the money. just hope its compatible with Microsoft's upcoming Flight Sim 2020.
Really starting to like this program after using it for a while. My only complaints are voicetext and weather do not work correctly in fs2004 but work fine in fsx.

I think Fscaptain deserves a well deserved 5 starts just because I have been using it for fsx, prepard v3 and now prepar3d v4 and I have not had to pay one single penny for the upgrades. Also, the idea is pretty good, very similar to fspassengers but without the management side. I strongly recommend it and the price is very much worth it

I believe in this software as a great idea, but it should be more friendly when it comes to be time for installation, for adding new planes to the FCDU and some other things... For people that really understand weights and tons of numbers, here is what you need. If you are a person that just want to have a crew on board and make your flights like in kind of "Fspassenger style" this is not for you... This is complicated to understand, but I believe for the people that get it right from the beginning, this is a great product for them. Resuming, if you want to go in a lot of settings, and fly hardcore, go ahead buy it... If you want to go easy, this is not for you.

After trying fspassenger, i tried fscaptain and this product is one of the best addons i have ever known. It brings a whole new dimension to your sim but requires a bit of reading and practice at the beginning. Nevertheless after 2 test flights i was fully able to use each and every feature of this product. So don't hesitate if you're looking for a more immersive and realistic sim. Works perfectly with every known aircraft addons out there.

3 days ago, i knew only FS passengers. After purchasing this product i believe that fsp must stay at the past.Totally professional programme, simulates everything you need before,in and after the flight.I wish that they would be more airlines with and their flight schedules updated.MUST buy.

If you don't belong to a virtual airline and want to put some purpose and career tracking behind your flight time, this product will do the job. It brings together a lot of features from other programs and adds some slick scheduling and dispatch functions. I'd recommend using the demo for a solid week before making your decision. You might find the audio functions a bit too game like (and annoying) if you're a hardcore simmer. With my VA's ACARS client, PFPX, EFB, Vatsim, GSX, and the load managers from my commercial aircraft, I don't have much use for the product. I don't think there's anything fundamentally or functionally wrong with the product, but it's more of a novelty than a tool for someone like me. Depending the way you prefer to simulate, you might find the program great if you fully commit to it, or you could find it burdensome and redundant if you already have a host of other programs in your routine.
This is a fantastic product that you will find you can not fly without. You spend your flights looking forward to a ping on you acars.

I want to give this SIX Stars. Five stars for a absolutely brilliant program. Not only does this software re-invent purpose for flying, it's interface blends in with the airliner environment. The extra star is for the developers commitment to continuing to improve and enhance an already excellent piece of work. FSPassengers is now on the shelf.

I've been using FSPassengers for years, but its focus on earning money and micromanaging everything wasn't the sort of thing I was looking for. It was rather a stop-gap for me. Now FSCaptain is something different. It provides continuous work load in the cockpit. It's beautifully integrated into FSX with a professional-looking gauge that's easy to use and has no performance hit. It took some fiddling to set up the load map for 3rd party aircraft, but they made it as easy as possible (well-explained in the manual). I've spent about 20 minutes, and I had an airline set up (based on a real world one - schedule included). I love the background sounds, and the way you can interact with the airline dispatch, crew and passengers. I find the score system very realistic, and challenging (you can customize that too). Another nice feature is that you can request weather, runway and gate information from dispatch, you even get weather warnings filed by other pilots. It keeps me busy and entertained for the whole flight. Flying became a much more rewarding experience. Thanks guys! Dan
