This DC Designs F-14 Tomcat package for MSFS brings you highly detailed and VR-ready A and B models in a total of seven paint schemes, with front and rear cockpit positions, authentic cockpit night lighting, custom sound sets for both variants and custom-coded manoeuvring flaps, slats and intake ramps.
Among the other features are F-14 Tomcat systems which include Direct Lift Control, CADC and basic ACLS, Head-Up Display, reflective glass, icing and rain effects, numerous accurate animations and user-controlled ordnance via the Payload Manager.
DC Designs are proud to announce the F-14 A/B Tomcat package for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing you two highly detailed MSFS models.
Fully native MSFS aircraft
All models have been coded with Microsoft Flight Simulator native 'Model Behaviors' animations and built to MSFS operational specifications to prevent issues with future simulator upgrades.
All custom cockpit instruments and screens are coded in HTML for native, high-performance display in MSFS
The Tomcats make use of the new simulator's features such as effects and sounds, fully reflective glass, native aerodynamic sound structures, the new 'Modern' aerodynamics system with the ability to provoke 'departure spins', and customised visibility controls for wheel chocks, covers, tie-down chains and GPU
The Tomcats also contain custom-built and animated effects such as afterburners
Full compressor-stall engine modelling and coding for the F-14A TF-30 engines
Other features include authentic cockpit night lighting with brightness controls, which includes user-operated 'slime lights' for combat operations, and custom-coded manoeuvring flaps, slats and intake ramps, all based on aircraft airspeed and angle of attack
Numerous external animations including canopy, crew ladders, tail hook and control surfaces
The F-14 Tomcats are fully compliant with Virtual Reality headsets
Full custom sound sets for both the TF-30-powered F-14A Tomcat and the GE-F110-powered F-14B Tomcat
Cockpit
Truly 3D virtual cockpits featuring accurately modelled ejector seats, controls and detailed texturing
All analogue instruments constructed in 3D with smooth animations
Reflective rear-view mirrors
'Scratched canopy' glass effects, reflective glass, icing and rain effects
Crew figures in the virtual cockpit are coded to disappear when you occupy their seats
Front and rear cockpit positions included in both variants
Fully customisable crew helmets, names, flight suit patches and even faces
Aircraft systems
3D modelled dials, ADI, 'whiskey' compass and other high-detail instruments designed to emulate the appearance of the real F-14 Tomcat
Display screens with visual layouts based on the real aircraft's systems (within the confines of MSFS' current capability)
Head-Up Display with authentic layout based on the real F-14A
Custom-coded, user-controlled ordnance via the simulator Payload Manager, allowing for live mounting of weapons on hardpoints with active weight increase
F-14 Tomcat systems include Direct Lift Control, CADC and basic ACLS
The aircraft are compatible with the Hard Deck Simulations Aircraft Carrier Module

DC Designs' F-14 Tomcat is designed to provide a top-quality aircraft that is extremely detailed, yet less demanding to fly than today’s most complex procedural simulators. Equipped with all required avionics, and with custom-coded animations and systems, the DC Designs F-14 Tomcat is designed to be accessible to all users without the need for intense study.
For those who don’t have the most powerful gaming PCs and still want a really nice F14 this is the one to get. Yes the IFE version (F14A&B) looks a bit better, but this DCD rendition is pretty darn good on its own.
You also get with this DCD version ALL F14 models. A,B & D! Plus several nice liveries. DCD added more liveries to the current list in addition to also adding the D model in version 1.08
This V1.1.1 is the complete, updated F14 package and it’s totally worth it!
The textures in the cockpit look very good (only a little less marvelous as the IFE) and for the most part everything is needed is operable.
The exterior textures are good but noticeably less spectacular than the IFE F14.
The flight model is actually not bad at all. These F14 fly like you’d expect. Nimble but not super agile and fast as He#*.
Not a bad way to satisfy one’s need for speed.
The audio is quite good and with appropriate volume can really show off the roaring engines.
No EFB as you have to add weapon weights correctly to the weight and balance, but it’s cool that you can add or remove weapons during flight as well with immediate effect.
Overall I’m very pleased with this F 14 A,B & D collection and am thoroughly enjoying flying each model.
Only gripe is the A model seems to require more extreme flight circumstances to cause compressor stalls and whatnot. However considering the old Aerosoft FSX F14As aleays seemed quite overly sensitive and stalled several times during each flight. I welcome this products less sensitive A model.
A great deal and great fun!
Great plane, very detailed model. Just fun to fly. I also got excellent customer support because I had issues with installing. The support of Just Flight was very patient and gave me detailed instructions on what I could try to solve my problem :)
Fantastic addon for MSFS! I love jet fighters and enjoy the F/A-18 in FSX. The acceleration and the high-G turn are so pressure-relieving. However, there are few modern jetfighter addons in MSFS. I've tried DC Designs F-15 Eagles for MSFS but it didn't achieve my expectation. Now DC Designs F-14 A/B Tomcat MSFS has reached a new level in MSFS. You can fly over Mach speed easily and also enjoy the low-speed stability. The simplified control system is its advantage. I would recommend this addon if you expect to fly a classic jet fighter and enjoy the weather and scene in MSFS.
The flight model requires armloads of trim. You are constantly trimming. So it isn't hard to fly. It's just large, heavy and lets you know right away that if you don't fly her, she'll fly you. The engines seem to spool up much too quickly and unrealistically for a first generation afterburning turbofan. Also the buffet seems to come on too early. The pitch rate should be higher. Especially with the wings fully extended. The thrust for the engines seems too close together. Realistically, with one engine out, the thrust from one can easily exceed the yaw and roll authority. Also I almost wish the A model's engines were less forgiving like the real thing. It took forever to even get one to fail and it was fairly mundane and easy to control. The pilot and RIO figures look a bit cartoonish. The put-your-face-on-the-pilot thing is somewhat adolescent. Otherwise the visual model looks good. It's worth it but I wish it made you work harder.
Superb achievement for FS2020. I have loved this air superiority fighter since a long time and I was hoping, that when FS2020 was released, it would be included in MSFS. It remains to tame it ! Flight tests continue :)
