Vilar de Luz Airport, also known as Maia Municipal Airport, is a small but historically significant regional airfield located in northern Portugal, just minutes from Porto International Airport (LPPR).
Despite its regional nature, Vilar de Luz is an active aviation hub and home to several notable operators, including Nortávia, a well-established and certified ATPL flight school, a Cessna Maintenance Center, the Aero Clube do Porto (founded in 1935), and Skydive Maia, a leisure aviation and skydiving school.
The airport is certified for VFR and MVFR daytime operations only, reflecting real-world limitations due to the absence of runway lighting and approach systems. This makes it an ideal destination for realistic general aviation training flights, circuit practice, and regional VFR operations in and around the Porto area. Due to its proximity with the Porto Airport, until the contact with Porto Approach is established, the aircraft must remain in uncontrolled airspace.
This addon has been carefully crafted to deliver a high level of realism and immersion, faithfully representing the airport and its surroundings as they exist today.
