This issue of Simulator WORLD seems to be all about expanding our horizons.
There is the new “Going East” Add-on for Euro Truck Simulator 2 which opens up the game to Eastern Europe. New roads, new content and new challenges await the truck drivers across the border.
Then we take a look at Train Simulator 2014. Not so much an expansion but certainly a further development of an already very successful platform. The switch from TS2013 to TS2014 was not as smooth as some of us would have hoped. You can read more about that in my article regarding this topic.
I was also asked to take a look at Aerosoft’s VFR sceneries and the D17 Staggerwing for X-plane. This certainly took me a quite a bit out of my comfort zone. No glass cockpit or ILS systems here, just plain old hand-flying.
The beauty of modern gaming and in particular simulators is that you can experience situations and complete tasks that would never be accessible to you in real life. And by doing so, you expand your knowledge and learn new skills. As the saying goes: No matter how far you go, the horizon is still way beyond you.
