Astermesh is a new Terrain Mesh scenery for the Flight simulator - extracted from the Asterdem Version 1. We have reworked - compiled this new set of elevation data models for the flight simulator with the goal to achieve the best results as possible after some editing on some of the original dem was applyed as Aster dem is a brand new product - This is the beginning of a new era for the flight simulator which will surely change the shape of its terrains in the future.

NASA and Japan released a new digital topographic map of Earth that covers more of our planet than ever before. The map was produced with detailed measurements from NASA’s Terra spacecraft.

The new global digital elevation model of Earth was created from nearly 1.3 million individual stereo-pair images collected by the Japanese Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer, or Aster, instrument aboard Terra. NASA and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, known as METI, developed the data set.

“This is the most complete, consistent global digital elevation data yet made available to the world,” said Woody Turner, Aster program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “This unique global set of data will serve users and researchers from a wide array of disciplines that need elevation and terrain information.”

According to Mike Abrams, Aster science team leader at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., the new topographic information will be of value throughout the Earth sciences and has many practical applications. “Aster’s accurate topographic data will be used for engineering, energy exploration, conserving natural resources, environmental management, public works design, firefighting, recreation, geology and city planning, to name just a few areas,” Abrams said.

Previously, the most complete topographic set of data publicly available was from NASA’s Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. That mission mapped 80 percent of Earth’s landmass, between 60 degrees north latitude and 57 degrees south. The new Aster data expand coverage to 99 percent, from 83 degrees north latitude and 83 degrees south. Each elevation measurement point in the new data is 30 meters (98 feet) apart.

“The Aster data fill in many of the voids in the shuttle mission’s data, such as in very steep terrains and in some deserts,” said Michael Kobrick, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission project scientist at JPL. “NASA is working to combine the Aster data with that of the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission and other sources to produce an even better global topographic map.”

NASA and METI are jointly contributing the Aster topographic data to the Group on Earth Observations, an international partnership headquartered at the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, for use in its Global Earth Observation System of Systems. This “system of systems” is a collaborative, international effort to share and integrate Earth observation data from many different instruments and systems to help monitor and forecast global environmental changes.
 

Aster is one of five Earth-observing instruments launched on Terra in December 1999. Aster acquires images from the visible to the thermal infrared wavelength region, with spatial resolutions ranging from about 15 to 90 meters (50 to 300 feet). A joint science team from the U.S. and Japan validates and calibrates the instrument and data products.

External model is beautiful...my major beef is that this airplane is ridiculously overpowered. So here is my list of things to make this airplane get a 5 out of 5 stars: - Get engine/flight model parameters correct...not even close currently - Add visual AB effect - Make the default be NO external stores - Add a paint kit - Add a an RF-8A or G variant ...a-

Quite a nice little aircraft, similar in functionality to the default MSFS aircraft. There are no EFBs, or options panels - just a basic aircraft. It doesn't fly too close to the numbers of the actual stream. PS. Contrary to what the other reviewer has said, this plane is unrelated to and nothing like the VL3. It's a completely different tandem design, different manufacturer and even a different engine (this uses the 912 ULS, the VL3 uses the 912iS).

Il serait bien que l'avion soit estampillé comme partiellement compatible Vr puisqu'il n'est pas possible de manipuler le manche avec les contrôleurs VR. En espérant que le développeur finisse rapidement le travail de ce côte là, je lui suggère de se rapprocher du Spitfire qui était l'un des premiers avions sur le market place et qui prenait déjà très bien en charge cette possibilité. Vivement une mise ajour.

I've been using Paulo Ricardo's sceneries for many years, and now with MSFS 2020 and the release of the PMDG 737, flying in and out of SBRJ is pure joy. When I lived in Brazil, I got to experience a few B737 and A319 flights, which is always a treat. The entire scenery sets a very high standard for MSFS. I understand one of the future World Updates will feature Brazil. They won't need to do anything in Rio since Paulo Ricardo has it covered!

One of The best aircrafts for Msfs 2020. Everything works fine. There have been no problems. If there will be updates you can be really satisfied. One drawback, however, is lack of liveries.

Sorry, I can't give it more than 3 stars. But if you rework it, you certainly have the potential to create an impressive airport. Rea-
son: The volcano could be more realistic. At least hardened lava flows should be visible. The palm trees look dried out. The grass is way too even and too tall. And thanks for the attention to the airport, which opened on October 7, 2021.

Definitely a must have airport package love everything about it lots of detail and lot's of eye candy around the airport aswell really good airport if u want a challenge at landings and take offs so massive well done to the scenery team at aerosoft on a fantastic airport and scenery night textures are amazing aswell defo 5star's for this love it ;) :) even better in the winter textures aswell ;) :)

I have never liked programs like this since you usually have to start in a C172 and work your way up, but not in this one! The analytics it provides at the end of the flight is what sold me on it! Better bring your A game in the airline ops! Super fun and I'm addicted after only a round trip! GET IT!!

Very nice and performance friendly (4m mesh used with premium texture set). Much beter colors and vegetation, no more rivers and lush green areas where it is in reality very dry. The island now looks like it should. Couldn't have been happier!
