The island of Oléron is located in the Bay of Biscay, off the coast of Charente-Maritime. It is part of the Charente archipel. It is separated from the peninsula of Marennes by the Coureau d'Oléron, to the north, and from the peninsula of Arvert by the Pertuis de Maumusson, to the south.
This airfield is an excellent starting point for VFR flights along the Charente-Maritime coast. It is used for the practice of leisure and tourism activities. The aerodrome is not controlled. Communications are carried out in self-information on the 120.200 MHz frequency.
