CF6-50

The CF6-50 series are high-bypass turbofan engines rated between 51,000 and 54,000 lb (227.41 to 240.79 kN, or '25 tons') of thrust. The CF6-50 was developed into the LM5000 industrial turboshaft engines. It was launched in 1969 to power the long range McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30, and was derived from the earlier CF6-6.

Not long after the -6 entered service, an increase in thrust and therefore core power was required. Unable to increase (HP) turbine rotor inlet temperature, General Electric chose the expensive path of reconfiguring the CF6 core to increase its basic size. They removed two stages from the rear of the HP compressor, leaving an empty air passage where the blades and vanes had once been. Two booster stages were added to the LP (low pressure) compressor, which increased the overall pressure ratio to 29.3. Although the 86.4 in (2.19 m) diameter fan was retained, the airflow was raised to 1,450 lb/s (660 kg/s), yielding a static thrust of 51,000 lbf (227 kN). The increase in core size and overall pressure ratio raised the core flow, decreasing the bypass ratio to 4.26.

In late 1969, the CF6-50 was selected to power the then new Airbus A300. Air France became the launch customer for the A300 by ordering six aircraft in 1971. In 1975, KLM became the first airline to order the Boeing 747 powered by the CF6-50. This led further developments to the CF6 family such as the CF6-80. The CF6-50 also powered the Boeing YC-14 USAF AMST transport prototype.

The basic CF6-50 engine was also offered with a 10% thrust derate for the 747SR, a short-range high-cycle version used by All Nippon Airways for domestic Japanese operations. This engine is termed the CF6-45.

Great airplane! The one thing I don't like is the water drop effect. There is a great mod on flightsim.to that makes it better. Aside from that its a great plane!

Too bad. Invisible objects, taxi outside taxiways, traffic control does not direct to the gates, a mess in the terminals. Aircraft passing through buildings and colliding with each other. The look is good, well done, but impossible to simulate. These developers should test scenarios before selling. I regret buying.

Very nice Caribbean airport very well modeled with a great price!

This is definitely not 'plug and play'! you have to do some additional work to make it fully working, specially the "hover" part. The included PDF instructions its complicated at best. There is a bit of information here and there in the internet, but if you are looking for support to help you, Good luck!! You on your own. Otherwise its a great plane it fully uses all of MSFS assets and capabilities, its a pleasure to fly and it does hover to land although its a learning curve. This has become my main VSTOL and VTOL plane.

Well that´s an old piece of scenery and although it should meet P3D5 requirements it does not at all. The exclusions don´t work and need to be reworked and the ground satellite image looks blurry. Even the runway does not cover the sat-image runway perfectly and a white stripe peers from the background. So even at the sale price, I can not recommend it.

At landing the sim stutters, freezes and so on; possibly there's some incompatibility with ORBX Alaska mesh.

The review knocking this for having no auto pilot despite the store description clearly saying it does is accurate. The only place that mentions the simple auto pilot is the flight manual where it says the A\P is ONLY for P3. NOT FSX or Steam! so that was very annoying! other than that I really like this helicopter! It flies so smoothly. Very easy to control and a real joy to fly. looks great too! The audio is a bit understated but i guess i can just turn the volume up. runs great on my Win 10 i7 3.3ghz 16GB Ram. Intel UHD 630 integrated GPU

Set up was easy - HOWEVER - software will installed 3 versions (for all the simulators), not just the one you are running. Its up to you to run the correct .exe for your sim. For example, it can and will run the FSX version on MSFS2020, and you will be none the wiser. SO be sure to click the correct one as different option menus are assigned to different sims. It took me a while to realise, that I was in the 'generic' version of this app instead of the MSFS one and for this reason I could not simply leave flight to continue live flying (as this is exclusive to MSFS2020 and the corresponding .exe which goes with it.) The interface is nice enough - but takes up far too much screen space making it look clunky and amateurish. Would be great if the software could loaded automatically on sim startup. Apart from these smallish gripes, the software runs beautifully smooth, and it is perfect for practicing the same scenario with the correct switches and settings to resume flying wherever you choose on a saved track. It does this almost instantly and I am extremely happy with how efficient this works for practicing situations that can be tweaked on the fly. It really makes learning the complexities of aircraft (like the 737PMDG / Fenix A320) a breeze to practice and master and to me it's a fantastic buy for this alone.
