TweakFPS: A FS2004 Scenery Mode Utility.

FPS = Frames Per Second. While it is not the be-all-and-end-all of smooth simulation, it is an indicator of how well your system is running FS2004. While a good framerate is essentially the product of a powerful CPU, a fast motherboard and video card, there is also another way to maximize your framerates - by adjusting what is actually displayed in the scenery window.

TweakFPS allows you to quickly change between 8 different modes that reflect the type of flying you want to do and gives you a scenery configuration that maximizes your framerates. It does this by simultaneously adjusting over 40 different variables in the FS9.Cfg file that have a significant impact on framerates.

Why do some serious IFR flying in the 'soup' with scenery that is not seen, dragging down your frame rates and taxing your system? What matters under that mode is smooth instruments and a responsive flight model so a scenery configuration with low settings will give you the best performance.

TweakFPS is ideal for beginners and expert 'tweakers' alike. For the beginners, simply use the 8 pre-programmed scenery modes. For the experts it is also completely configurable. If you don't fancy the program default settings go to the Config page and tweak the mode settings to your liking and set up a customized mode.

Features:

Using TweakFPS:

  • Quickly and easily set up one of the 8 Scenery Modes
  • Enable the scenery mode that best suits the flying you plan to do (eg. IFR, VFR)
  • Enable the optimum settings for MegaScenery USA
  • Clicking the Apply button simultaneously tweaks 44 different FS9.Cfg variables
  • Tweak any of the modes with a custom config
  • Ability to Quickly Toggle Between 8 Different 'Scenery Modes':

With TweakFPS you avoid the need for moving sliders and settings back and forth for different types of flying, IFR, VFR or for special scenery such as MegaScenery. You also cut out the need to continually edit the FS9.Cfg manually, a tedious task at the best of times. After applying the mode TweakFPS will launch FS2004 with your preferred flight (assigned via the 'Settings' page).

Set Up Custom Modes:

TweakFPS gives you the ability to tweak the default predefined modes. If you do not fancy the 'hard-coded' program defaults then you can customize the mode to your liking. TweakFPS will save your customized mode and will load that when you press the 'Apply' button. If for any reason the custom config did not work out or you want to revert to the program default by clicking the 'Restore' button.

Each Variable has a Tooltip with Range Information:

Each key in the FS9.Cfg file has a format and range that is required by FS2004. When setting up a custom mode double-clicking on the variable brings up the small "Edit Value" window. Hovering your mouse over the input box will give you a tooltip with information on the range of the variable (eg. 'TrafficDensity Range = 1-100').

FS9.Cfg Viewer/Manual Editor:

For those who like the power of editing the FS9.Cfg file directly TweakFPS provides a simple integrated text editor that you can use to make any other changes.

Attractive "Integrated" FS2004 Look:

Generally speaking utilities are fairly plain-looking. We have also put much thought and effort into making TweakFPS pleasing to the eye. We recommend running TweakFPS under Windows XP for the best visual experience.

TROPICALSIM - ALBUQUERQUE INTL 2020 KABQ P3D
John
I really like the detail in this airport and if it wasn't for my using ORBX scenery I probably would be using it. However, the ground textures do not match the ORBX scenery that I use, not even close, and this makes the airport stick out like a sore thumb. For that reason I have removed this airport from P3D.
JUSTFLIGHT - DC DESIGNS F-15 C, D, E & I EAGLE MSFS
Steve
I bought this game at Justflight back when it was only available there. I normally buy everything I can from SimMarket. But I do own the plane. I thought I'd leave a review since no one else has. This is a good plane. It had issues at release. But after all the updates this is a now a very nice plane. I have no complaints. It handles well, looks great and has everything I need. But it is overpriced since it's not study level.
PREALSOFT - CASABLANCA AIRPORT GMMN MSFS

CDT occurred when it was created at Casablanca Airport after the last MSFS upgrade. When I asked the creator Nassim he was very kind and gave me a solution right away. It's very encouraging. So I gave it 5 stars.
JUSTSIM - EDDS - STUTTGART AIRPORT MSFS
Hendrik
Actually a beautiful scenery. As other users have already noticed, without a navigraph subscription, the arrivals and departures are totally missing here. I repeat it again ... SID and stars for a payware are completely missing if you do not have a navigraph subscription I haven't seen any scenery to this day, it works at other Justsim Airports. Except in Stuttgart. There are freeware providers for this airport, they get something to do here ... justsim not. Poverty and money-making. They are also waiting for an update. It was the last scene from this company.
PAPERCRAFT AERO DESIGN - UL STRIDE MSFS

It's a miracle to me how this can actually get a 5 star-rating. So much to complain, so where do I start? First of all, it has working rudders! It doesn't make sense because these things don't have rudders and don't need them anyway. Good news is that you can slip it which is highly unrealistic nonetheless but leads me to my next point. Does this thing have any sort of parasite drag at all? There's no way of bleeding off airspeed properly during approach because it doesn't bleed off any energy whatsoever! Even if you somehow finally made it to approach slowly (around 100kph because you won't get it any slower anyway unless you perform an ILS-like approach from 5NM of distance with power on idle)it floats forever during flare. Don't even think about visiting a short-runwayed ultralight airstrip because it likely won't end up too pretty. Radio works audible but keeps turned off visually. To be fair though that particular point is mentioned in the discription. Sounds aren't too good either overall. It's a pusher prop configuration which has a quite prominent prop noise to it - at least it would in real life. It doesn't regarding this add-on. So far I really cannot recommend it to anyone and it's a bit ridiculous to ask for a price of ~10€ for it.
BRAZIL LAND GAMES - SBFN V2 - FERNANDO DE NORONHA - MSFS
Jean-Claude
I was looking forward to "go back" virtually to Fernando de Noronha that I visited ten years ago by ship, and was surprised - and disappointed - to see that the unique landmark of this tiny island (the huge rock pointing to the sky) was not even modeled, making this otherwise attractive destination unrealistically represented for anybody who has been there (think about Paris without the Eiffel tower or New-York without the Chrysler building). Not to mention the rather poor rendition of the airport itself! Very disappointing especially after having owned an excellent product for FSX years ago, but obviously not from the same developer.
INDIAFOXTECHO - T-45C GOSHAWK - MSFS
Roland
Graphically the T45 is superb inside and out. It feels very real, almost photorealistic. The one exception is the HUD, which is not collimated and does not work well with TAA. Sound is good; it's not amazing all through the RPM range, but when flying at typical power settings it is very believable. The flight model seems very believable (not being a jet pilot myself). Roll rate is very high (as expected) and you can pull _8G under the right conditions. You can't pull crazy high AoA manoeuvres, which I think is realistic - it's not a fighter with an all-moving tail, canards, thrust vectoring etc. Throttle and control response is overall excellent, which is what you'd expect from something based on the Hawk. The systems are well modelled. All the buttons work and you can perform all the tasks you need in MSFS (navigation, systems management etc). The T45 is quite performance hungry, although there is a "lite" version included if you need to improve FPS - a nice touch. However, I recommend checking if your PC struggles to run MSFS normally. Fi-
nally - it's a lot of fun. You can't beat a low-level flight in the T45 for sheer entertainment value in MSFS.

Really nice for a version 1.0. I'm looking forward to a few minor refinements but a nice aircraft at a fair price.
RHDSIM - A320 FOR X-PLANE 11

Its pretty good for its price range, plus it has a bright future.
BLUEMESH - AMPHIBIOUS ULTRA LIGHT AIRCRAFT - SKYWAVES MSFS
JEREMY
Jimmy from BlueMesh was very engaging and responsive to my initial review and released an update today that includes brakes and way better ground handling as well as improved aileron response in air. There are some limitations of MSFS' current implementation of water physics that create some issues, but the developer is working with a real pilot of this aircraft and is interested in keeping realism to the maximum, so - to address any potential concerns here is a few things he pointed out that I thought would be useful to know - Real aircraft is not equipped with a radio, that's why it's inop. - There is no airspeed indicator on it, either. - Drifty behaviour is normal and according to the pilot it's actually a very challenging aircraft to fly, so a lot of that behaviour corresponds with the real-life behaviour of the aircraft. I do recommend this aircraft as I expect Asobo will eventually improve water physics and behaviour of seaplanes in MSFS. Thanks to Jimmy and BlueMesh for a fun aircraft and for being responsive and fair. Jeremy
