The F-5E Tiger II is an improved version of the original F-5 Freedom Fighter that entered service with the US Military in the early 1960s. It is a lightweight, supersonic fighter-bomber with great agility and load-carrying capability. Over 1400 examples of this type were built between 1972 and 1987, and the type has seen widespread service in the Air Forces of many nations, some of which still operate the type today. Additionally the US Navy still operates the type as an aggressor fighter at its Naval Fighter Weapons Schools.

Das Flugzeug hat einen Spitzensound. Aber Vorsicht! Bei der ersten Landung flogen mir die Funken um die Ohren und das Fahrgestell verschwand zu 90 Prozent in der Maschine. Hat ganz schön gescheppert und ich bin nun 2 cm kleiner. Fliegt sich sonst fantastisch, nur für das Aufsetzen braucht man die ersten Male echte Nerven. Ich frag mich, wie die den Jet je auf einen Flugzeugträger landen konnten. Cockpit sieht sehr gut aus, und alles ist kurz und bündig in einer Anleitung beschrieben (Englisch). Aber alleine schon der Sound ist der Hammer, da braucht man nichts mehr zu kaufen. Wäre schade wenn man den irgendwann mal ausmustert. Als Schulflugzeug ist er allemal noch lange tauglich. Kaufempfehlung: Darf in der Sammlung auf keinen Fall fehlen. Very good! Virtavia.
