ABOUT THE MISSION
WireBird Simulation is proud to introduce our latest mission, in which you must take off from the Vatican City helipad, tour Rome with Pope Francis and then take him to the official summer residence of the Pope at Castel Gandolfo. There may be a small change of plan along the way...
Inspired by the excellent FSX-style missions we used to play decades ago, we decided to begin work on developing immersive, voiced missions for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and we are confident you will love this one!
Your task will involve flying the Pope over locations in Rome while soaking in the sights yourself, and hearing about them from your co-pilot. How much money is dropped into the Trevi fountain each day? Which two rival teams both play at the Stadio Olimpico? Why does Rome have an ancient pyramid? Your co-pilot will answer each of these questions as you fly over these incredible landmarks. And what's even better? The order is entirely up to you!
But be careful! Go too fast, and you'll hear about it! And remember, the last pilot was fired for landing in Piazza Navona and the Colosseum... you may be tempted to do the same, should you decide this job isn't for you after all.
The download includes the Italian Airforce Papacy livery, based on the Pope's real-life helicopter, as well as both helipads you will need for this mission - the one at Vatican City, and the one at Castel Gandolfo. Both are exactly where they are in real life! Just be aware that the Vatican City helipad is still a little bumpy, as the MSFS SDK doesn't like interference with its photogrammetry locations. Both helipads have added scenery, such as people, luggage and vehicles. You will also find a handy PDF guide with an FAQ, instructions and a map of the flight plan and a map that makes finding the destination helipad easy, if you struggle. There is also a map in the download file that was marked by your co-pilot and shows the places he'd love to tell you about!
The mission is entirely replayable, although take note that you will first have to delete your save file for the mission due to limitations with the MSFS SDK. This is super simple (you must locate the folder and click delete), and instructions for it can be found in the PDF that comes in this download.
